Seeing this thread adds to the sadness for what Balenciaga has become under Demna. The terrible inclusion of child predatory undertones, and questionable concepts which mock mass culture through caricature. The house of Balenciaga was revered, I hope it can return to that reverence and Demna is removed.

Does anyone here know how Gabrielle Chanel and Cristobal met when he was doing collections in Spain and is it true that Cristobal introduced Audrey Hepburn to Hubert de Givenchy?

Does anyone here know how Gabrielle Chanel and Cristobal met when he was doing collections in Spain and is it true that Cristobal introduced Audrey Hepburn to Hubert de Givenchy?

He was buying couture in France (including Chanel) and copying it for clients in Spain before he started working on his own, which is presumably how they would have met. As for the Audrey/Givenchy story, I've never heard that, but Givenchy did work for Balenciaga and they were good friends.

I didn't know Hubert worked for him, was that before or right after he established his couture house?

Unsure of the timing but Balenciaga and Givenchy were close. They had their ateliers near each other, would show like 2 weeks after everyone else and a lot of Balenciaga’s clients went to Givenchy after he retired.
