From Encyclopedia Britannica:

From 1949 Laroche trained under the Paris designer Jean Dessès and, he studied production and marketing techniques on a 1955 trip to the New York City garment district. In 1957 he showed his first solo collection in Paris, and four years later he opened a boutique for a new ready-to-wear line. In the late 1960s he launched a line of menswear and the first of many successful perfumes, but in the 1970s he stopped personally designing ready-to-wear clothing to concentrate on haute couture. By the late 1980s he owned some 250 boutiques worldwide. Laroche received two Golden Thimbles, awards given by the international fashion press for the best Paris collection of the season. Laroche was made a chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1987.

1962, Paris, France --- Paris: Guy Laroche's soft, feminine look for spring is carried out in purple tweed wool. The short, fitted jacket has a collarless neckline that allows the cowl collar of the navy silk blouse to show. A fake watch chain, dropping from one pocket to another, trims the brief jacket. The high-crowned, broad brimmed hat is done in the same fabric as the suit.

06 Aug 1963, Paris, France --- Softly speaking...Simplicity marks the Fall season in the new 1963 collection by Guy Laroche of Paris. The designer puts importance in the sleeves with this coat, done in an off-white wool, by cropping the shoulder lines and covering the arm with soft beaver. The coat has a semi-fitted look with three buttons closing the front. The soft brown fur is also used for the tiny stand-up collar that circles the neck in a cowl-like effect. A towering beaver turban completes the costume.

06 Aug 1963, Paris, France --- Peek performance...A slender, casual and simple coat dress is created for a peek performance by Guy Laroche of Paris for Fall 1963. The designer tucks luxurious ocelot under the wide sleeves allowing it to peek beneath them to form a cuff. The off-white wool dress notes the couturier's trend toward rounded shoulder lines which showed throughout his collection.
