I must say that I love Lim's 3.1 line.
Though more often than not I've heard people say that he leaves something to be desired. Quality being the most common criticism, I still love it- the feminine frills mixed with the slightly masculin details.

It's completely modern and what I want to wear as a 20 something professional who wants to look, well, girly!

He makes wearable clothes that are feminine and beautiful. I am not sure why people feel he needs to be more?

i find his pieces individual yet not over the top. feminine, goegeous and it makes me smile!!! =)

there is no general phillip lim discussion thread so this is fine here....:flower:

i have to say that i am on the 'poor quality' bandwagon...
i wouldn't care abouut the quality so much if the clothes were less trendy and less expensive...

but a $600 dress better not fall apart or pill and better be stylish for more than 3-4 months...!!!

even though the designs are quite adorable in a super trendy sort of way...

the prices are just completely out of whack for the clothing...
:ninja:

To me, I adore his collections, but I feel some of his things (the dresses in particular) don't have a lot of lasting value. They're too... trendy? I don't know if that's the right word for it...

I like his designs and he is one of my new favourites but I agree I've seen his clothes and felt the fabric they are not worth the prices.

oui! i've never heard about negative things about the quality.

they're made in china >.<

could his designs be any cheaper? r they too expensive for where they're made or is that the cheapest it could be. liike could he sell them at the same price if they were made in italy?

his stuff is very stylish and easy to wear. i love his men's line a lot. especially the red lumberjack coat from the fw season. it fit me so well...i was soo close to getting it but unfortunately i had rent to pay. ARGH adding onto the quality of his clothes, i have his rolled shirt...so far it's held up well. awesome basic.

I love Lim, I have a ton of his crap, however, it does leave somethign to be desired because it is just so trendy.

I agree.

completely agree...as much as i love 85% of the stuff i usually see, i could never buy it at full price especially because i feel within about 6 months its 'played out' or 'too trendy'

i adore lim... he is one of my absolute favorite designers and the collections are always some of my favorites. really gorgey stuff, and wearable too. its not something i feel totally ridiculous in.. its like the clothes were made for me, which i love. totally perfekt.

Oui ou Non?
Может быть. Я не знаю. :D But in all seriousness, I haven't really formed an opinion on him. He does create beautiful and consistent clothing season after season, however, which I admire in a designer.

I guess it depends on the piece itself,
someone mentioned the red flannel lumberjack jack. LOVED that, and I couldn't ever find it to buy. that would have been a keeper.

^ Yea, that Lumberjack piece was amazing, I passed on it because it was just too loud for my personal tastes.

quality definitely does not match the pricetag.

I like Phillip Lim. He creates a lot of wearable and pretty pieces which I am a great fan of.
The only complaint that I have though, which is already voiced out in this thread, is that the quality could be better. His label is supposed to be contemporary, but still I do have moments of disappointment when I see a piece IRL where the quality does not justify the price.
That is why I usually buy his pieces when they are on sale, except when it's something that I REALLY must have!
