She became Creative Director of Condé Nast in 1983, and Editor in Chief of British Vogue when Bea Miller resigned in 1985.Thanks fo the info. Do you know when was her first issue for Vogue UK?
She was there for two years wanted it to be less eccentric and more mainstream like US Vogue so she made many changes and fired a lot of staff. Her nickname was ‘Nuclear Wintour’.
After two years she was moved back to New York in 1987 to be Editor of House & Garden. Again she made sweeping changes and the magazine lost a lot of subscribers. Ten months later she took over US Vogue because it was losing readers to US Elle, and has been there since.
