Acne Paper Sweden

But it's certainly worked in that it's made me want to see more of what's in the magazine because I want to know what this picture is a part of!

Yes! I am actually very curious as to who this is, their face actually looks somewhat familiar. Like are they an artist of some sort, or a musician? I have so many unanswered questions.

Too much is definitely the best description for this
Don't get me wrong, I am all for experimental, new and variety. But in this case it's like "from one extreme to another". From the usual, all styled and glammed up, beautiful people on covers, to the unstyled, unproportioned weirdo (I'm sorry, I really don't want to offend anyone but I just want to point out what I mean with "two extremes").
I actually think he looks kinda cute and funny - with the baldness and the dimples. But it feels more like a joke to me, than actually a cover that can be taken seriously.

This image is so intriguing. I really want to know more about the cover subject. His expression and his pose is something that you may see in a classic beauty shot but his appearance is contradictory to that.

It really is a great cover.

Although the cover is.. weird, i personally think it's beautiful

I was just told that the cover is Leigh Bowery.

lol i like it.it's way too cute of a cover. he looks kinda like a white buddha doing those poses chubby Renaissance chicks do.

This looks like a buddha trying to be promiscuous. I like experimental and different, but I don't think this is a very extraordinary photograph. It's only garnering attention because it's not a skinny, doe-eyed model with razor-sharp cheekbones.

I wonder if the entire issue is about him.

i like the cover.

but that's an old portrait of Leigh Bowery (RIP) - at the time he posed for Lucian Freud (1994), I believe. * not sure, though.
how did they get the rights etc. ?

come on people,it's the legendary leigh bowery in a quieter presence,if you will. i think that particular image is not only reflective of acne's powerful yet cerebral style but it's also a lovely tribute to somebody who pushed so many boundaries with costume, performance art,politics....you name it,he grasped it and he made people face it.

berlin,i wonder that myself. it's kind of similar to they transforming tilda into man ray's infamous model maria casati last issue....i wonder had they had to ask permission from ray's estate even to do that? still i am in love with what they're doing.

^ i was about to say as well that the ID of the cover took some time. damn it.
but didn't want to say it .... thnk u for the balls !

interesting cover. it's a great way to defy the expected and make people wonder..

Together with Marisa Berenson, Acne Paper celebrates the launch of their 11th issue tonight with a reception at the private club of the Maison de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris. Entitled 'the Studio Issue', the new edition will feature the likes of Daniel Silver, Henri Matisse, interviews with Axel Vervoordt, and Jeremiah Goodman, alongside photographic portfolios from Helmut Lang, Lord Snowdon and Deborah Turbeville.

I find this cover quite boring and unattractive, even revolting in some way.

yes, that's a photo bruce bernard took, there's a series of photos of leigh and lucian freud in his studio inside the magazine, i don't know how they managed to get the rights but the theme of the issue is 'the studio issue', there are tons of art pieces and photos from other artists / photographers in the rest of the mag, i bet they had quite some work to do to get all those rights.

^thanks for that last info, coz i flipped through it yesterday (very quickly) and wasn't excited at all.
so i'll have a second look.

Same here, I wasn't captured by the content at all. There is only one fashion story and the styling isn't impressice at all. Nothing outstanding.
