Model says Five O'Clock Heroes duet is just the start

Supermodel Agyness Deyn has told NME.COM that her collaboration with Five O'Clock Heroes has inspired her to form her own band.

The track 'Who' which is out on June 23 sees Deyn duetting with frontman Antony Ellis.

She said: "Basically I've been friends with Antony for years and years. He’s like my older brother. He was the first person that got me into playing the guitar, he was with me when we bought my first guitar and he's encouraged me to get into music more."

The star added that she has now formed her own band Gene Jacket, and that they are now working on tracks together.

“We’ve got three or four songs, we wrote a really cool song at Coachella actually which was exciting." Deyn enthused. "It's called 'Hotel', well we originally wrote and recorded it in Japan, then added bits at the festival. It sounds like The Vaselines, , maybe like Animal Collective. Just sounds, experimenting with stuff."

i think it makes her more interesting having a side project such as a band and singing, which having heard the song finally (Who) I really like, and it's far removed from my normal music taste.

^ Sorry, I don't agree.

The song was good even though I didn't like it but... won't being in a band seriously detract from her modeling work??

I dunno... you know what I think about celebrity career cross-overs anyway.

as long as the band isn't there to ride off of her modelling career then i can't see any problem with it, unfortunately i think we all know whatever she does musically, will be enhanced career-wise by her modelling.
if it stays a side-project then it's fine really isn't it?
you can have more than one passion in life!

she has contributed a video to showstudio's political fashion project

Special thanks to Agyness

Thomas Fuller declared “Craft must have clothes, but truth loves to go naked” – and indeed sometimes Political Fashion doesn’t need any clothes at all to make its point. Ruth Hogben's film iluustrates this perfectly, as her star Agyness dons nothing more than free-floating balloons and her own birthday suit to underline ideals of peace and freedom.

you can have more than one passion in life!

Of course you can! I have a passion for painting and for music, but writing is my career.

I wouldn't go out there and try and release an album because I don't consider myself talented enough and it detracts from real musicians.

If Agy has a great sound and a great band and it doesn't detract from her modeling, I'll be fine.

I just have an issue with celebrities who use their status to release albums etc. when they're not talented at all and real, talented musicians are struggling without aid to get into the business.

I agree with Gual, if she made songs just for the sake of her hobbies I don't really mind. As long it doesn't interfere with her career.

^ Yeah, well, that was my original worry.

I think it could if she's actually good. I think we all know how much hype gets throwing whenever Agy does anything these days, can't you imagine Perez plugging her new album like crazy?

If they ended up playing at festivals, touring etc. then it would interfere with her career without a doubt...

If she had to choose between music and modeling though, I'd hope she'd stick to modeling!

she doesnt have to be MORE interesting...shes effin everywhere!! its just for the sake of being even 'cooler':rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yeh like music you have to wait for new music or whatever for quite some time but modeling, nearly every 1 to 3 month or so there's something new

and the people who still havent got it: she does it all for attention! sorry but its true...look at her at the beginning of her model career and look at her now....she dresses for attention, she does those 'side-projects' for attention, she makes herself her own tribute i-D issue for attention...im tired of it really...i think im gonna stop visiting this thread soon cos it annoys the **** out of me

shes a great model yeah...but so is Coco Rocha, Freja, etc. they're all TOPmodels and NOTHING apart from their appearance would distinguish them from Aggy...if Aggy wouldnt love the attention and the hype about her person...

I just get the feeling that Agyness wants to be a "rock star", as opposed to being someone who is bubbling over with musical creativity and passion .

I could cope with the single when I thought it was a one-off, but now - it's a very forgettable "indie" pop song, she didn't write it (?), and her voice was very auto-tuned.

^ I agree with you both 100%. Great posts.

Agy is an amazing model but, like Fairy said, there are tons of great models out there.
Jessica Stam has a huge party network in NY and she DJ's, but she still keeps her career as a model seperate.
If Agy was like that I'd be very cool. She's not though and I'm also getting a little tired of her...

She needs to do another great editorial that has nothing to do with the "almight Agy" thing or I'm gonna loose all my love very soon...

and that 'oh im such a down-to-earth sweet Manchester girly'...seriously...shes not...shes trying to let us all think she is because people love her even more...right, im SO down-to-earth, i think im gonna make my own i-D issue too! then go and hang out with all my hipster friends in our fave hipster club, do some dj-ing, record a song and some video where all i talk about is how down-to-earth i am

She needs to take her own advice, take a step back and go to India or somewhere for a while.

Her handlers have done a bad job of handling the over-exposure. I think this hype, particularly the 'new Kate' hype from the tabloids/weekly celebrity magazine, is going to blow up in her face. She just isn't "mainstream" or "normal" enough to carry through on it, 'Barry from Durham' is never going to care about her...:innocent:
