Agyness Deyn

Yeah no one could argue she isn't over-exposed but lucky for her, she is moving into other areas besides just modeling.

^ True!

I dunno whether or not to believe that article. I've read stuff to a similar effect about other models and told myself, " Nah, that's not true" and then it's turned out that it is so... I'm not gonna say anything about it. Lol! :p

But has Agy not lost a few campaigns this season?? :(
Hope I'm just imagining that! Lol!

What areas?

Is she the new Sophie Anderton? former british 'supermodel' turned reality TV/Tabloid star and....:ninja: well it just goes downhill.

^i dont even know Sophie Anderton...guess that shows how it goes

Woa, she's nothing like Sophie Anderton :ninja:

The main problem with Agyness's over-exposure and hype, in my opinion, is that she won't be able to translate it into massive sales figures for fashion houses.

The fashion crowd, for the most part, love her but she doesn't have the mainsteam, mass appeal of others eg. Kate Moss.

I could be proved wrong though, and this is the last time I'll mention it in this thread as I'm aware it's annoying for devoted Agyness fans to have to read through ^_^ She is a great model and that's all that should matter in a Supporting Cast thread really :flower:

well she's gonna have to learn and its sort of good that she learns that over exposure is a bad thing at a point in her career when she could potential pick things up again but if this happens again for the next year she might not be around that much longer, IMO.

^i agree...plus being over-exposed not so much for being a model but being in tv/tabloids (as sethii said) or with her music 'career' etc. will scare the designers away because theyre aware of the fact that people will be or already are tired of seeing her...they wont book her anymore because shes not interesting anymore

^^She is a great model and she has bags of personality IMO, In Uk she is already now known by people who know very little about fashion.......so that's something.B) I believe Burberry should have stuck with her but they'll likely use her again in the future no doubt.
And Sophie Anderton = supermodel :lol::lol:, she would say that I'm sure but a couple of pics with Herb Ritts when you're 18 or something constitutes nothing. Sorry for the O.T. but I had to comment.

I think it's the other way around actually, she's loved by the people who make fashion (designers, photographers, editors, etc) but not by that many fashion fans. She's more of a celebrity type model IMO as now she's more loved by the "public" than by hardcore fashion fans. Because she has the personality that make people interested in her, whereas most fashion fans these days are shocked by anyone who isn't utterly blank.

If she were a model in the 90s, no one would give a **** that she wanted to branch into other areas. Many, many models in the 90s did singing/acting/hosting/etc which is why people actually remember who they are.

But anyway, this discussion is past being old. It's discussed on every single page and it makes me wish I could filter everything but the pics on this thread.

Batgeline: I love the shot from the behind the scenes Burberry shoot! It should've been used int he campaign, it's fierce.

I believe the news is true and do I hope it is. Like someone mention it will bring her back to earth. I didn't like her in Burberry anyway. Much prefer Lily Donaldson.

I don't like Agyness too much, but Rosie Huntington-Whitley? For Burberry? That idea confuses me a bit.

I think Agyness' look sort of epitomized Burberry, so I'm a little bit surprised to find out that they dropped her instead of the other way around.

^ I agree, Agyness was good for Burberry. She kinda gave it a punkish edge which I liked... never mind though!

Do we have anything to replace it?

Found another article about Agyness getting the boot from Burberry:

Burberry Dropped Agyness Deyn Because She's Too Famous?
5/19/08

Agyness Deyn has been dropped from the Burberry campaigns for reportedly being too famous. According to the U.K.'s Metro, photographer Mario Testino, Burberry's "advertising visionary," is sick of seeing her face, a "checked-cap mole" said:

She was just a flash in the pan. Last year she was quirky but now she is challenging [Kate] Moss in the fame stakes by positioning herself everywhere. That kind of popularity just hasn't sat well with Mario, who is looking for something different.

We've learned from way too many cycles of America's Next Top Model that models are generally encouraged to avoid talking back (Nigel Barker has delicate feelings, after all), voicing their opinions, displaying their personalities, or doing anything that would cause you to actually remember their names. Perhaps because it makes them a bit more disposable? The industry may prefer faces without names, but the public likes being on a first-name basis with supermodels. We hope Burberry didn't pull an Elle (too soon after Nina-gate?) on this one and let a good one go. Also, let's not forget that Testino is an avid Moss supporter, reportedly calling her his favorite.

Deyn's rumored replacement is 21-year-old Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, last seen on the arm of Christopher Bailey at the Met's Costume Institute gala. It all comes together now…

^ Haha! Wouldn't go that far but although I agree about the overexposure thing, it doesn't make her a bad model.

She shouldn't be dropped just for that.

its not about being a bad model its about ppl being tired of seeing her
