Dr. Martens to Launch 'First and Forever' Campaign

Remember your first pair of Dr. Martens? The iconic British footwear firm is betting that first pair conjures up good memories. In its fall-winter ad campaign, the company selected Agyness Deyn and Ash Stymest as the new faces of its “First and Forever” campaign, shot by Gavin Watson, known for his British youth and subculture photography. Through imagery and film, the ads take the viewer on a spontaneous journey of “first” moments and experiences set against British landscapes.

Ads break in September and will run in such magazines as Teen Vogue, V, The New York Times T Style Magazine, Essential Homme and Rolling Stone. Social media will also be an integral part of the campaign, with Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Lookbook.nu and The Sartorialist as digital partners.

Dr. Martens also plans to run content on its own social media channels. Users will be invited to share their personal “first” experiences from their first pair of Dr. Martens to their first crush, first love and first gig. The company declined to reveal the ad budget.

Agyness interviews jewelry designer Nettie Kent at naag.com:

"Last week Aggy stopped by Nettie Kent’s Brooklyn jewelry studio to check out her fine wares. She took the opportunity to ask Nettie a few journalist-type questions about her love for the line, and what inspires her.

A: Why do you love jewelry and making it?
N: I’ve always admired and noticed jewelry, I began collecting it before I even knew I was “collecting.” I love how each piece is special and unique to its wearer; I love that I have made pieces that people wear and treasure. I’ve always had a thing for treasure, like the pirate-ship kind, and making jewelry is for me, like creating treasure... While he was surfing my boyfriend Colin lost a necklace I made him, and I really like the idea that something I made is out there, maybe washed up on the beach or sunk in the sea, or maybe someone else has found it and is wearing it.

A: Describe your jewelry in one sentence.
N: Mermaid meets city streets and keeps her cool.

A: Where do you get your inspiration?
N: I never know what will spark an idea so I carry a sketch book with me always. I notice shapes; I think it must be my training as a painter. My sketchbook is full of shapes and from some of those shapes pieces take form. My first collection was very organic, very ocean. My work still reflects the beach bum in me, but since moving back to New York I have soaked up my new surroundings and have seen a difference in my work. It’s more geometric. It still has that organic quality but with harder lines. There is more of it — way more!

A: Who do you see wearing your pieces?
N: I just finished shooting my new look book with the amazing photographer Betsy Blundell. We shot my new pieces on a diverse group of musicians here in Brooklyn. Every shot was an adventure really, and seeing how my pieces — even the same necklace, for instance — can be worn differently by different women was really exciting. Jewelry is so personal and everyone who puts on a piece wears it in their own individual way. It becomes part of their style, and that is really exciting and inspiring for me."

She's left Models 1 (it's announced in the news bit of their website today) and she's disappeared off the board. Anybody know what her new Ldn agency will be? (I'm presuming she is signing with someone else).

Sorry if this has already been mentioned.

her face looks much older in this campaign..or maybe it's the hair colour that does it.
either way, she still rocks - I love how English these photos turned out! :)
