Alaïa F/W 2024.25 Paris

oye...😪
you guys, this is really not a good look for the brand, come on. this is ALAÏA. the brand name is written into in an iconic TV show ("this is an alaïa!", "a what-a?").

the enormity of azzedine alaïa's design legacy cannot be overstated. and not only his. alaia's personal collection has the most vionnet dresses ever, i think.

plus, mulier inherited one of finest quality ateliers and manufacturers in existence. have you ever seen the finishing on an alaia chiffon dress? sublime. the italian factories that knit those insane dresses? use them!
if there is such a thing as a board of directors at alaïa, i would suggest they just re-issue pieces from the archive, hire a wicked shoe designer to continue making great accessories and release a better perfume until they find someone else.

get those headhunters working! there are fashion designers out of work all over the world. doesn't have to be anyone famous. just someone who really gets it.

I looked into his other collections and boy, did he improved lol that's his best collection! The models are no longer squeezed into the clothes and there is almost no "intelectual" shapes. He's on the right path! Now he just needs to pay attention to the women who wears Alaia and not being wrapped up in concepts

No wonder Alia chose to start showing during Couture Week, they're charging couture prices for their ready to wear. Are they seriously banking their business on a handful of women (and Jordan Roth) who are willing to spend $64,420 on one outfit?

Alaïa has always been very expensive…
Those prices are maybe outrageous for anyone discovering the brand but they were already of that caliber during Azzedine time.

The mille-feuilles pieces deserves that price point IMO.
That’s what you paid for a honeycomb knitted lurex gown by Azzedine.

The prices are steep, but they're quite reasonable for what the pieces are:
• unconventional techniques
• natural wool/silk
• probably produced in small quantities
• probably made in Italy
Adding Chloé and Dunhill, Richemont seems to be quite decent in terms of pricing their fashion brands. Meanwhile Kering has Saint Laurent selling faux fur coats for 12'000 EUR.

Side note: Seeing Raf and Blazy on one side of the runway and Naomi and Monica on the other really represents the current situation of Alaïa.
