I'll start by saying that I appreciate Pieter Mulier’s work—maybe it's not always suited for Alaïa, fair enough, I can admit that, and it doesn’t always align well with the stylistic and cultural heritage of the maison. This collection, I’ll be honest, didn’t disappoint me—but those dresses with endlessly long pants? Are we being serious or is this a joke? Did he really present those? That aside though, I’m on board with the rest. Maybe, in hindsight, it would’ve been better to have him at Balenciaga and Piccioli at Fendi (even though I’m very excited about Piccioli’s appointment at Balenciaga).
