The photos are reminiscent of Alaia’s work with PT on the Deauville beach.
I showed the photos to my husband and for him it looked like a tailpipe or the pipes at Pompidou. So, the supposed romanticism and melancholia that they are trying to evoke is feeling a bit flat.

It’s good to see Tyrone Lebon in another exercise but those clothes are a hard sell.

I like how striking it is - and how it's making people think of all sorts of other things. Given how lifeless current fashion campaigns can be, reactions like that are better than none at all.

My references are so last century, the combination of beach + funnel shape reminds me of a foghorn.

Azzedine was known to present his collections whenever he felt they were ready, so he didn't comply with the traditional calendar. Now, Pieter presents the collections as Summer/Fall and Winter/Spring, usually shown around the couture shows. This upcoming season will be his first under the PFW calendar.

Alaia, much like Jacquemus, doesn’t show Resort or Prefall.
So their collections, campaigns and runway shows are always « inter-seasonal ».

So summer and fall is their equivalent to Prefall and FW. Their Winter and Spring is everybody else equivalent to Resort and SS.

A brand like Celine divide it campaigns, collections and shows following the 4 seasons: Spring (for resort), Summer(for the main SS collection). Fall (prefall) and Winter (for the main FW collection).

And in Alaia’s case, during Azzedine’s time, since the early 00’s, the collections were inter-seasonal but also a mix of Couture and RTW.

After a bunch of editorials and covers focusing on the solely the face hole part of the condom dress I'm glad someone finally realized the neck is just as important for this sort of Ghanian fertility icon/Richard Avedon for Bazaar silhouette



Between Chloe and this I think Richemont's fashion divison is finding their footing and taking advantage of the vacuum left by the bigger companies that feel compelled to put out uninspiring corporate slop campaigns- for now at least. Who knows what will happen when they start making as much money as the other brands.

The fake film grain though makes it so deep! The way brands drag out Tyrone and his equally as mediocre brother to have some kind of “cool” and “it’s over your head you don’t get it” vibe because they hang with skateboarders and work with brands like Stussy is lol. The same with people like Ari marcopoulos and his “photography” It’s always trying to give something more than it actually is and you can just smell the faux intellectual bs behind it.

Truthfully I thought of the demogorgons from Stranger Things when looking at that first shot for some reason. I hated those looks in the show and hate it here too. Where's El when you need her to send them back to the Upside Down ?
