I like her style a lot---her haircut and especially the many different pairs of oxford pumps she wears. And my regard for her is certainly not damaged by the fact that she's dating Alex Turner... (What a cool couple!)

I've always assumed the word referred to flat shoes eg. "ballet pumps". But according to shoe-design.com's glossary

pumps, pump- low-cut shoe that surrounds the foot, without fastenings. May have heel of any height.

So now we know
