Alexa Chung

Turner way now to avoid cheese

ALEX TURNER could soon be spending months apart from his TV presenter squeeze ALEXA CHUNG after she moves to New York to host a new MTV show.

Alexa, pictured here cuddling up to the ARCTIC MONKEY outside a Los Angeles hotel, has landed the plum job of fronting Total Request Live, the hugely popular programme based on BBC3 show LILY ALLEN And Friends.
It’s working title is Poke Alexa.

I’m reliably informed this is a reference to Facebook and not what the cheeky monkey will be missing out on.

Based on Lily Allen and Friends?! Is it not MTV's TRL that Carson Daly used to host? I'm surprised, there was talk of a New York move a while ago, but apparently she had decided against it. Hope it all works out for her :D

I just googled TRL and it has been cancelled, the last episode airs on November 16. Alexa's facebook-based show must be part of the replacement line-up.

Alexa's humour is just going to fly straight over the American audiences heads...

I know, she even admitted that herself  And didn't she just buy a house? Anyway, hopefully the pictures won't dry up if she's not in London.

Ohh god if it is true & she moves there I hope Alex doesn't move to because then that will really screw up AM :(

Hmm... not sure what I think of the move to NY. MTV's audience is very mainstream. I don't think most viewers will understand her sense of humor and interviewing style.

On the upside, we'll probably get more pics from the Cobra Snake and the Skullset if she's here in the US.

Girl About Town

"Alexa is Santa Barbara.” So reads my Facebook profile status. Although, technically speaking, it should probably say: “Alexa is somewhere between Santa Barbara and Big Sur, grappling with an |unfriendly map.” But if I were to write that, it would call for proper grammar, something the internet has rendered a thing of the past. Anyway, me being (in) Santa Barbara is the product of my agent, me and Channel 4 conspiring to schedule in some respite from the heavy demands of reading words from an autocue.

Yes, it really can take its toll. I’ve needed a holiday for about two years, so I took a month off and, six years after my last US roadtrip, I’m venturing to rifle my way through thrift stores and burgers once more, along the open road.

The timing of this trip has been most fortuitous, firstly because I hate wearing gloves and the weather in London was demanding that I do so; and secondly because it meant I was in LA the night Obama breezed to victory. It was an eye-opening evening, not least because, having come round from my jet-lagged nap, I awoke to find will.i.am, of Black Eyed Peas fame, appearing as a hologram on CNN. This, although initially dismissed by me as the extension of a dream, actually happened. CNN was beaming opinions into its studio, and they came in the style of Princess Leia. Weird.

During dinner with friends later that evening, I abandoned a Caprese salad in favour of watching Obama’s speech. I found it hard to comprehend, given the circumstances, why this seemed |to aggravate our over-friendly waitress, because it wasn’t that good anyway – the salad that is, not the speech, which was amazing. I welled up, actually, then pretended I didn’t. The people in the bar were overjoyed, whooping and cheering, embracing, making out even. Apart from my friend Charlotte, who said that she wouldn’t celebrate until Prop 8, the law that would prohibit gay marriage, had been denied. It was a gloomy week for her.

After LA, I spent the day at Disneyland. I’ve been to Disneyland Paris and Florida more times than anyone who doesn’t dress up as Goofy for a living should. But it wasn’t until I was happily sitting in a horse-drawn tram on “Main Street” that I remembered that I had previously visited the California one, too. But that didn’t make the Space Mountain any less thrilling, or a grown woman dressed as Alice in Wonderland any less depressing.

Having said that, I myself invested in a Pocahontas children’s costume, and in response to encouragement from friends, wasted no time in donning said outfit, meaning I spent the rest of the day tugging at the tassles of my bottom-skimming skirt, wondering whether I was brazenly disregarding Disney’s code of conduct.

Although a decade stood between this and my last visit to Disneyland, it was reassuring to know that my day ended as it did then: me, worn out from one too many rides, falling asleep in the back of the car. However, it wasn’t until this visit that I finally fulfilled the childhood desire that, in my teens, I would have been too defiant to embrace: Pocahontas has great dress sense.

But I do wonder whether she ever felt the same level of embarrassment regarding her tassly *** as I did, making my way from the car up to my hotel room. Nothing cements an awkward moment quite like a lift.

Well that article was better than her last. But I still feel like she tries too hard.....

I guess it's a great opportunity for her to move out there and further her career, but I'm quite disappointed that she's no longer a London girl! I'm going to miss seeing her and her outfits on T4, etc.

Do you think her style will change much? As she loves the British high street a lot, and it definitely effects how she dresses.

But then again, the only shop the Americans didn't really have was Topshop, and that's just moved to a massive store in New York right? So maybe she won't miss out on much at all...

Is Alexa Ditching Alex?

There's some news floating around that's got us thinking. The word is spreading that Alexa Chung is turning her back on us. Not to mention on her boyfriend, Alex Turner. Reports are out that she's leaving our shores to head to the land of opportunity...

According to The Sun, Alexa's moving to New York to host a new MTV show.
This "news" got us fretting about her relationship with Alex Turner. The paper said she was going to shack up in NYC to front the Total Request Live show. So we decided to get the definitive word on it from her peeps - after all, love is on the line.

Alexa's rep told Sky Showbiz: "She has been offered to film a pilot for MTV that she's going to do next month, but there's no commitment at the moment.

So what about her being spied Stateside with her boyf this week? Her rep explained: "She's just on holiday there for a bit."

So once and for all, she's not leaving Blighty behind, is she?
"It's just too early to say."

Guess we'll just have to wait and see then... but stay strong, Alex and Alexa, love conquers all.

Does anyone know where her brown gladiator style strappy sandals are from from her latest candids in LA (kissing alex on the coach)? I love them!

I don't think anyone is certain, I'm afraid, as there have been requests for an ID before. It's a shame, because I love them too!

I reckon she'll take up the MTV job, as she'd be pretty crazy not to give it a go to see where it leads her career. I want her to stay in London though, only because most of her clothes are from the UK highstreet and it's easy to ID them :D
