Alexa on her Cheryl Cole bust up

Alexa Chung has talked about her bust-up with Cheryl Cole, saying Cheryl's 'national treasure' status means she can say what she likes.

In an interview with Vogue last month the Girl's Aloud singer accused Alexa of having acted 'all superior.'

But Alexa said: "I didn't really mind because to be fair I was probably a bit of an idiot when I met her, so it's cool. She's a national treasure so she can say what she likes."

The 25-year-old TV star, who hosted the Elle Style Awards, added that she wasn't happy with her style being labelled 'geek chic'.

"Yeah, I was a bit p****ed off about that actually. I don't intend to be geeky. I think it's because I wear glasses sometimes 'cos I've run out of contact lenses, we've all been there."

Alexa, who attends her fair share of music awards ceremonies with boyfriend Alex Turner of Last Of The Shadow Puppets, said: "There's so much pressure because everyone's focused on fashion. At least if you go to a music awards you can just walk it because everyone's focused on their guitars."

She was as equally down to earth on her status as a trendsetter. "I think it's really flattering but it's not something I think about daily. I'm not like, 'Ah, I'm going to spark a trend.' I'm usually filming quite early on in the morning so it's more a case of things I can grab."

That's a really mature and gracious response to Cheryl's gossipy, low-brow Vogue interview.

Ah I knew it was Chanel! But I couldn't find the dress. I guess I was looking in the wrong collection.

Alex needs to cut his hair.

She was on the George Lamb show on BBC 6 Music yesterday, promoting the Elle Style Awards. She was filming a spoof for the T4 Confessions of A Shopaholic Movie Special when she was papped in New York with all the Chanel bags. She said she was worried she looked like a "capital pig" ^_^

Alexa appears at 2 hours 14 minutes, the interview lasts about 15 minutes. You'll have to put up with George Lamb though :ninja:

There's a video of her playing the recorder on the show on youtube, but it only works in the UK :(

I LOVE the black (dark teal apparently) dress. especially the button details.
The Anastase's great too but I like the little polished but still funky look. Love the shoes.
The hair must go.
Please, Alex and Alexa stop this charade. End the hair days and take the plunge together. I promise that you'll bond as a result.

wooowwww!! i love her in that first blue-ish dress! she looks different there to me. is it her hair or make-up maybe? she looks gorgeous anyway!

wow! love the both dresses, especially the 1st one. waaaay better than that pink luella cake she wore last year

and I like what she said about the glasses!

She looked so chic at the Elle Style awards. She's on her way to becoming such an icon imo ^_^

That dress didn't look teal blue to me!

The Charles Anastase dress is lovely but not worth the price tag - no matter what the label. I've seen similar on Portobello markets. There is a girl that sells similar silk dresses in white, yellow, blues etc for around 40-60 quid. Not sure if they're available at the moment.

Very true, it's the white version of a little-black-dress, and the outfit is great because of how she styled it, not the dress itself. It's very easy to something similar (and less $$$!). I like her teal dress, but it looked black to me. Interestingly, I thought the outfit was lacking in accessories, even though the dress was strong enough to stand on its own. Alexa didn't seem to add a personal touch the way she usually does.

For the person who inquired about her shoes, Laredoute currently stocks a similar, elegant style by Repetto.

Any Laredoute website (check the one that caters to your country)

Talk about pricey though, the shoes are 250-8 euros.:ninja:

^ I'm pretty sure Alexa's shoes are by Luella. You can see the colour of the dress clearly here -

Alexa Chung: 'Without paparazzi, there wouldn't be free clothes, parties – or Lady GaGa'

Girl About Town

OK, so I'm a pescatarean, but how much more wanky does that sound than vegetarian? I'm a vegetarian who sometimes (when I can stomach it) eats fish so I don't get even thinner, or pass out when I'm doing something incredibly important, such as writing columns about being a pescatarean.

Now I've sorted that, we can begin...

New York was cold – the type of cold that actually scars you and leaves you emotionally weak. It breaks you down until you're literally tearful at the prospect of returning out doors. The temperature was way below freezing; it managed to numb my hands, it managed to permeate the three pairs of socks and set of heat pads I had in my shoes, and eventually it defeated my mouth.

Losing the ability to talk certainly isn't ideal when that is what you're being paid to do. We were filming in New York's shopping district, or everywhere in Manhattan as it is better known, for a T4 movie special. Laden with designer shopping bags (which were actually props stuffed with nothing), I had to strut up and down Fifth Avenue for the benefit of a television crew.
Unfortunately, a solitary paparazzo caught me mid-stride, and the resulting photograph will no doubt spring up in gossip magazines as a testament to my reckless spending.

This is what irritates me about getting papped. The context is never explained, so conclusions will be drawn without the accurate basis for assumption. I wish I could afford to shop exclusively at Chanel and Miu Miu, but it's not an option. For the most part, when I'm dripping in designer goodies they have been lent to me, expected to be returned the morning after the night before preferably without the wine stains down the front, but almost always with.

I'm lucky, I don't have paps camped outside my house, I can pop to the shops without worrying about whether my sunglasses are big enough to hide my unmade face. Perhaps this is a reflection of how uneventful my personal life is. I am yet to punch somebody out in public, I have no secret drug habit to expose and my weight only ever switches from thin to scrawny depending on how stressed I am. Does this mean I'm boring? Well yes, probably, but thankfully it also means I'm not stalked by aggressive men holding cameras aloft creating an electrical storm.

My friend says there's some toothless weirdo who waits for her in the bushes opposite her house. He shouts abuse at her, every time she exits the front door. That's got to be a pretty scary way to start the day.

Of course, I understand the importance of the paparazzi. Without them snapping away at the overnight celebrities as they/we fall out of Bungalow 8, there would be no free clothes on offer, there would be no party invitations, there would be no Lady GaGa (below). And then what? Who would I YouTube for hours on end trying to work out if I love or hate her?

The thing I most admire GaGa for – apart from the fact she can wear a bow of hair on her head and make it look OK – is the fact that she rarely wears anything over her underwear. On her mission to take London a couple of weeks ago, not a day went by when the London papers weren't awash with pictures of her emerging in the dead of winter from a variety of clubs in nothing but fishnets and sunglasses. Amazing. I can't imagine ever wanting to go out in just my knickers, if only because the majority of them are greying fraying grandma pants with the days of the week on them. Sexy.

While I was in New York I visited Agent Provocateur. Post tax bill, mid credit crunch and pre VAT, I decided temporarily at least to try and shop only for things I actually need. Let's be honest, there are more price-friendly places to search for them than La Provocateur, but then you go in there and the next thing you know someone called Janice is telling you she thinks this set is particularly minxy. And then you're struggling with stockings and suspenders because Dita Von Teese always makes them look so easy to wear. Just me then? Oh, OK.
