Alexa Chung

I'm happy that she's going to America, but at the the same time I'm childishly thinking "don't gooooooooo!" Probably because I always associate her with London and London style. The shortage of pictures will be odd.

yeah I'm going to miss pics of her. maybe her profile will rise in the US though!

its sad to think that over here she's no one. and to be honest she probably won't make it that big, because random tv show host never get a huge fan base over here. I mean I can't really put into words why I don't think she'll be too successful over here, and I hate when I can't explain something.. haha.

good for her for making the move, sad for us we won't be able to see her style as much due to lack of papz. although I'm sure she doesn't mind escaping them.

I found this photo of her in thecobrasnake archives. I wonder what she now thinks of that haircut...

Wow is that really her?? It looks more like Ringo Starr circa 1964! Muahahhaha.

yeah that person from cobra looks totally like a boy not alexa at all 0_0 is that really her ? someone have more pic of her with that hair ?

That girl is definately not Alexa.
I would love to see her in a long gown too and at the Costume Institute Ball
but I'd think that she won't get an invite because that event is so damn exclusive. Then again she might be invited by one of the designers whose shows she gets invited to and whose clothes she wears a lot.
I think peachescream is right, she will get an invite - she was one of US Vogue's 10 Best Dressed Women earlier this year. Also, the Met is always filled with fashion stars and socialites, as well as celebrities. I hope she does go, it would be really cool to see her in a ballgown B).

You know, there mightn't be the drought of pictures everyone is expecting. As it is, she'll get to go to the fashion parties..but MTV VJs become sort of well-known in the US too.

She's no one in America. Unfortunately that means a sharp decline in pap pictures.

Decline in candid pictures, maybe. Not in press. The internet has greatly changed celebrities' exposure, and it's not like people in Britain are going to suddenly lose interest in her. I'm sure she knows exactly what she's doing by moving to the US. Make no mistake, Alexa has shown that she is extremely PR-savvy, and if she's not, then her PR handlers certainly are.

So far, her manager/PR handler have proved to be pretty crappy and she is not particularly business-savvy [or a national treasure] either. If she knew what she was doing, she wouldn't move in the US. She'd stay in the UK, get rid of her useless hipster pals, adopt a more mature mindset, get herself a decent career and try not to be defined by her relationships. The few things she has accomplished so far is getting a super nice wardrobe, a few fashion magazine mentions and exposure through a famous bf.

Unfortunately, these are the things that constitute fame for many people, and it's enough for plenty of celebrities. It earns them fame and money. I'm not saying it's right, but that's the way it is.

Did you read that gushing article about Alexa from a fashion editor on the previous page? That sort of prose doesn't come out of nowhere. Celebs have to work very hard on their public image to garner that kind of vapid praise. And she's currently on the cover of a major magazine, that's both internationally distributed, and re-created with cover stories from the UK version, so she'll get tons of exposure from that. Imo Alexa's PR people are doing a helluva good job.

Could not agree more. How can she possibly generate half the amount of press she gets across the pond here in the US? Not right away, at least. And if she is, it's for partying. Oh, and no one is really gung-ho over the Artic Monkeys, so forget about people caring about that. When Peaches Gelof moved here the only press she was really getting was from that handy guide for tools, commonly known as Nylon magazine (which is a joke in itself), and gawker.com, which ripped her a new hole whenever her stunts failed (i.e. married/divorced). Moving to NY for a VJ gig? I don't know how it happens in the UK, but for the most part VJ's aren't celebrated celebs. I don't remember the last time Kurt Loder or Matt Pinfield had paparazzi pics taken while canoodling with their significant others. Or had paparazzi pictures taken period. It's a lucrative and fleeting career- especially at MTV. Their shows come and go like the seasons. Good luck to her.
