Alexa Chung

MTV are definitely taking a risk. really hope they like her over in america!

My honest opinion, I feel that the MTV show could a win or lose situation. It could work out (since Twitter is such a huge success, right now:rolleyes:) but since things like Twitter tend to be a 'here today, gone tomorrow' faze, it could be a complete failure. For Alexa's sake, I hope it works out because it does sound like a good idea.

She looks so different now . I know she is older now and blah blah but she would look better if she looked bit more...healthier like in that old picture.
That hair style would look better if her hair looked healthy.

Has her Independent column finished now that she's in New York? There's been none for two weeks.

The Los Angeles Times trashed both Alexa and the MTV show's concept here. Read style.com's take here.

It is quite a risk, as her other shows haven't worked too well (the ITV one I think), but this is a different concept. She really will have to think on her feet. We should see some nice outfits though.

Seems a strange time slot. surely after school would make more sense?

anyway, good luck Alexa!

It's a risky concept and reeks of middle-aged-middle-management Marketers looking at their dwindling viewing figures and 'brain-storming' what the kids are into these days. TWITTER! FACEBOOK! BANDS! and trying to fit into a TV concept. These sorts of things generally don't take off unless you've created the concept as opposed to be a follower.

Also it reminds me of The Wall - that short lived programme that Alexa fronted last year.

I do wish her the best - but I'm highly sceptical of this format. It is also a massive coup to have her name in the programme title. It will surely raise her profile.

On the style front - I've heard rumours of more of an association with Chanel. Not like a muse, but more like a brand ambassador I guess.

Reminds me a bit of that Lily Allen show too. A bit of audience interaction works - voting for music videos, asking celebrities a question etc - but I'm not at all sure about viewers' videos and constant communication with "Alexa's network of friends". Really hope it works out for her.

The AP article on the previous page says the midday slot is for the summer, they hope to move it to a later slot if it goes well. She'll need a while to find her feet - a daily, live show sounds terrifying (and exhausting)!

Oh yes. Lily Allen's show. That must've been another middle-management meeting wanting to capture the MySpace generation. I won't compare this to the Charlotte Church Show either!

At least it won't have the unlucky touch of BBC3 to produce the show .....

it feels a bit sad to see alexa become a part of the huge industrial mtv machine. im afraid of her becoming overexposed and losing her charm. i really hope moving to the us was a good decision!

That's why she got the job in the first place.
