Announcing... The WINNERS of the 2025 theFashionSpot Awards:
Designer of the YearCongratulations to ALL of our worthy winners! Thank you to our tFS forum members who voted and participated.

At the launch of Alexa Chung’s debut collection for Madewell at the Bowery Hotel last night, it was apparent that the model turned MTV host turned designer was attending to the details. From the illustrations on the gift bags to the polka dots peeking out from the ankle of a pair of cuffed jeans, Chung’s Annie Hall-meets-Lolita sensibilities proved a perfect complement to J.Crew’s sister brand. “There’s a notebook in there for you. And this is my favorite chocolate from England,” Chung said of the canvas goody bags that were snapped up by fellow partygoers model Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof (who was moonlighting as a mannequin for the line), and Tennessee Thomas, drummer of the Like and resident DJ for the night.
Although Chung is no stranger to the fashion industry, the collaboration marks Chung’s first-ever design attempt. But, she says, “it wasn’t very hard: I took in drawings or pieces I wanted changed or made up differently.” Voilà—wool overcoats (the plaid’s her favorite), shrunken boy’s blazers, and Big Love-appropriate silk blouses. We had to ask—is this the stepping stone for her own line? “Maybe. I loved working with Madewell, so I’m just going to see where this goes.” Coy about business; less coy about the hazards of fashion week in February. “I look **** in cold weather,” she admitted. “I’ve always got a **** face on. But I’ve got a sheepskin coat. I guess that’s pretty good.”
papermag.comLast night The Bowery Hotel was the setting for the debut of Alexa Chung's chic new linefor Madewell. Girls modeling the collection were scattered about the space as DJ Tennessee Thomas spun girl groups like The Shangri-La's to compliment the eclectic, '60s feel of the line. Former PAPER cover girl Alexa (who complimented my cardigan!!) was kind enough to chat with us briefly about the new line, her Mad Men obsession, and her favorite people to interview.
So, question of the night. How did the line come about?
Well, I designed it with my friends in mind. Things that they like, things that I like, things I think were missing from my wardrobe. None of the pieces are too specific; I think that everyone will find something they like.
What else have you been doing for Fashion Week?
Sadly I've been really boring -- just staying in and watching Mad Men.
You know, I still haven't seen it!
You'd love it. Anyone would love it. It is so glossy. It is like treating yourself, like having a cigar or a fine wine.
Well do you think that you'll hit up some of the events before the end of the week?
I'm really looking forward to Phillip Lim -- he always puts out great stuff.
And did you do anything for Valentine's Day?
No, I had to be in fittings all day.
Well, all the better -- everything is so adorable.
Thanks.
You know, you're such a great interviewer and I know you've sat down with some great people. Do you want to give us the dirt? Who was the craziest? Or the most fun?
Such a tough question! There have been loads of fun people. Wow... If I think about it I think I had the most fun with Jason Bateman or Sienna Miller... Now I'm noticing you haven't got a drink!
No, I haven't started drinking just yet.
Well get over there and get one! The old-fashioneds are amazing!
I will! Thanks, Alexa!
nymag.comNow that her MTV gig is up, she's not sure if she'll stick around New York for summer or go back to London. "I don’t really know. My rent doesn’t end til June," she said. "I’m really **** at future questions. I’ve never been someone that maps out their life plan." But what does she want to do? "This is a question everyone keeps asking me at the moment. I’m quite happy doing what I do now, which is, uh — this designing thing has been amazing." She seems to be gravitating toward a slash job title involving both fashion and television. "Yeah, I know it’s annoying to straddle professions, but I find both stimulating and fun," she said. "And as long as TV still interests me I’d still like to make it. And it’s the same thing with fashion — it’s something I’ve increasingly become fond of.
the jumper looks lovely!
