Vauthier is one of my favorite and this show was actually the one that I enjoyed the most since Couture week started.
It’s almost a recurrent formula but the clothes are extremely well made, the Metiers d’Arts did a wonderful job as always and I like that Vauthier is doing those classic and timeless couture dresses. Beautiful drapés, beautiful plissés, la robe en mousseline...etc.
It’s not groundbreaking but it’s fresh and he is the only sexy designer doing that currently.
That being said, the collection had two low points: The styling and the casting.
I think that Melanie Hyunh’s styling doesn’t necessarly push or elevate the collection. Styling clashes for visual effects are not my thing...In Couture, simplicity is the best.
The casting was frustrating. When you have gorgeous women like Eva Herzigova or Edita who brings so much personality with their attitude and walks, having 17 years old girls in between who don’t have the confidence of grown women is very frustrating.
And when you have Herzigova, you don’t close the show with Hadid.
