Model Selena Forrest posted on her Instagram story that someone has posted positive during Milan fashion week. This seemed inevitable, what a mess... Does anyone know if models get tested daily?

^ I think someone posted Kendall and the Biebier girl landing in Milan yesterday (or the day before?), I hardly doubt it’s to show up in a catwalk at the end of Paris Fashion Week. I don’t think fashion truly cares why travel restrictions have continued months later and it seems migration doesn’t care either if it helps to revitalize their economy in some way (are they being bribed? honest question, or so relaxed and not really enforcing restrictions like in New York?). You’d think the Italians and French would still be a little paranoid considering how things went down and the fact that there are still many countries making headlines for being such a hot mess when it comes to handling the pandemic (like the US) but nope..

Yep, they landed yesterday and Kendall was at the Versace offices today. Just based on the daily mail’s updates of every time those girls breathe, neither her nor Hailey were quarantined for 14 days before traveling to Milan.

I recall Donatella, PGDM, or Jacob K (I can't exactly remember who) posting on their Instagram story that the Versace crew (not sure about cast) have been tested and got negative results.

^A message stating exactly that appeared at the end of the livestream. It's good they're taking it seriously, so that no one has to get sick just to see another rehashed collection.

Testing negative isn't really assuring as you could test positive the next day. It doesn't seem like there is much regard for social distancing backstage amongst models. I don't know what guidelines they are following but at this point the shows seem really irresponsible to me.

As a medical professional, I concur and would also like to further highlight the importance of incubation periods and viral load as to PCR and quick tests results, additionally, quick tests such as the one displayed by Selena have questionable sensitivity and specificity.

Entourages of both models and behind-the-scenes workers, travelling from venue to venue, from one city to next, staying in different lodgings, seems like an unnecessary public health risk.

The restriction doesn't concern private flights and people with diplomatic passport. Models from Europen which live in USA can travel to Europe, but If they don't green card or USA passport they will have problem with come back to USA. In Europe some flight between countrys cancel but border is not closed. You can travel by car or train.

I mean it was pretty obvious that something like this was going to happen with all these brands pretending the pandemic is over. As much as I wish to see live shows, it's irresponsible to have them even if cases have slowed down in Europe. I hope it's a wake up call and not many people got infected.

I have to say, I'm really really shocked at how tone deaf global fashion industries are being, Milan especially as Italy was virtually destroyed by Covid. Vogue just posted images of "street style stars" and I would say that 80% were maskless and going about their day as if millions of people haven't been impacted. They all look really f****** stupid. Kind of makes your stomach flip honestly.

California Beauty Professionals Sue Gov. Gavin Newsom

The Professional Beauty Federation of California, a nonprofit created in 1999 and representing more than 620,000 licensed beauty professionals and 53,000 barbers in the state, is suing Gov. Gavin Newsom, the association said today.

The organization has teamed with a group of California-based restaurants that unified to file a lawsuit days before Christmas, explained Fred Jones, the group’s lobbyist and legal counsel. Just like restaurants, which are restricted to takeout only, beauty and barber establishments with COVID-19 safety measures in place are looking to reopen immediately and permanently, as well as receive financial relief. Businesses are accumulating debt, and many are closing their doors for good.

“Some Los Angeles-area restaurants retained [lead counsel and L.A.-based attorney] Mark Geragos…to file suit,” Jones told WWD. “Then in speaking with Mark, because I’ve known him for a long time, he decided, ‘Hey, some of the arguments that salons have are even stronger and given the fact that salons and restaurants are taking the brunt of this, why don’t we combine forces.’ So yesterday, he amended his existing lawsuit that was filed right before Christmas to include our industry, hair, skin and nails.”

The organization’s campaign to reopen salons has been supported by companies that include Paul Mitchell, Salon Republic, Phenix Salon Suites and Dermalogica, revealed Jones.

It was in a press conference on Dec. 28 that Newsom extended the latest statewide lockdown due to the surge in coronavirus cases and deaths, keeping salons closed — a measure that has been met with skepticism. (As of Jan. 22, California has more than three million confirmed cases of COVID-19, resulting in 35,768 deaths, according to state findings.)

“If you’re a hairstylist in L.A., you can’t work in your own salon, but if you have a contract with a Hollywood film studio, you’re allowed to do the exact same hair services, because Hollywood has been deemed by Gov. Newsom as essential,” said Jones, who also noted that big box retailers like Walmart and Costco are kept open and independent businesses suffer most.

“We already have a judge picked and already have a court assigned, so we’re way out in front of a lot of these other lawsuits that have been filed in the last few days,” he continued. “We got a favorable judge. And by favorable, I mean really open-minded, a lover of the law and of the Constitution. All we believe we need is a fair-minded judge to look at the law and the facts, and we believe we will prevail.”

The nonprofit has been providing resources for its licensed professionals through its website, said Jones.

“We’re doing that through our online portal to help them apply for PPP federal forgivable loans,” he said. “I’m proud to say we’ve had over 10,000 licensed professionals already go through that portal. It’s tens of millions of dollars that they’re applying for. We’re hoping within the next couple of weeks to exceed $100 million of 100 percent forgivable loans put in the pockets of our industry professionals.…We’re hoping to immediately get our salons and spas reopened and permanently reopened so that this governor — and frankly if we go all the way to the United States Supreme Court, which we have marshaled the resources to do — no governor will ever be able to lock down our salons and restaurants without showing the data and science to justify their orders.”

Same issue in Canada, they're allowing filming of movie and tv still take place in the country yet any other regular business has to remain closed! Again it's a big win for big businesses that can manage through the pandemic but it's small businesses that have to suffer greatly...

I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist but it just seems too suspicious if you ask me...
