Alyssa Sutherland has confirmed her status as one of the world’s most beautiful women with a new campaign for Chanel cosmetics and a burgeoning film career.
Catching the eye of Karl Lagerfeld – fashion’s most powerful man – follows Alyssa’s onscreen success starring alongside Olympia Dukakis in Day on Fire and an earlier appearance in The Devil Wears Prada . She has also won another role in an upcoming feature film.
Since moving to New York five years ago, Alyssa has featured in high-profile print and TVC campaigns for top-tier global brands such as Bulgari Omnia fragrance, Garnier, John Frieda, Kerastase, Hugo Boss and Abercrombie & Fitch. Closer to home she was the face of Jigsaw.
At just 25, Alyssa has come a long way since winning the national title at the annual Girlfriend Model Search in 1997. Within weeks of being discovered at a suburban Brisbane shopping mall, Alyssa was booked for Vogue Australia and flown to New York to meet with the largest modelling network in the world, NEXT Model Management. They continue to manage Alyssa outside of Australia.
During her career, Alyssa has appeared on the cover of Vogue Australia, Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, Australian Style , Glamour Italy and Black and White . She has also shot extensive editorial for Vogue (Germany, Australia, Italy, Greece and America), Elle (Australia and US), marie-claire (UK), Harper’s Bazaar (Australia), Glamour Italy, I.D. , Wallpaper* , The Face and Scene , often working with renowned fashion photographers such as Herb Ritts, Bruce Weber, Ellen von Unwerth and Steven Miesel.
But there’s more to Alyssa than her beauty which translates so well on film. With her grace, height and willowy figure, she is internationally sought for runway appearances, walking for designers at the biannual collections in New York, London, Milan and Paris. Diane von Furstenberg, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Moschino, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Lanvin and Jean Paul Gaultier are all long-time fans and regular clients.
