An homage to Andy Warhol’s screen tests, 'More Beautiful Women' evolved from Nick Knight's commission to photograph the most famous models of the twentieth century for the Millennium issue of British Vogue. The brief? Simply ask the models to stand in front of the video camera for two minutes until told to stop. These films are the compelling result.

My First Job: Amber Valletta

For amateur and established models alike, it’s often feast or famine when it comes to booking jobs. Model and actress Amber Valletta realized this at an early age — when she was 15-years-old. That’s also the age when Valletta booked her first job, a fashion editorial with Italian Vogue. She made $1,500 and saved every penny of the money to pay for her apartment.

Simultaneously though, Valletta was busing tables at a family restaurant. The 38-year-old actress says she took the job partly for the money but mostly to scope out the boys. “The boys were so cute, I had the biggest crush…Actually I had a lot of big crushes then,” Valletta recalls.

“Time was on our side. We could sit around and hang out and stare at each other. You can never get that again, that age. It was just so fun, not the work, but the in between,” she added.

Amber Valletta currently stars as Lydia Davis on ABC’s “Revenge.”

In the spring of 1992, Ford Models asked me to shoot a test of their newest girls, two unknowns sharing a tiny New York apartment. I came across these old prints in the archive and was reminded just how irresistible these girls turned out to be. This was the first day I met Shalom Harlow and Amber Valletta.
