Damn... she's stunning... But, wait a minute, the first post says she's with Grace-models, which is a Russian agency that scouted Natalia, Eugenia, Anne V... How can she be from Algeria (wherever it is located, I don't know, I must admit) ???

New thoughts on Amina

Its been awhile since my original post here. It seemed a good idea to take a step back and let some time pass. As I’m sure most of you know, today’s hot new face often becomes tomorrows cocktail waitress. Many are called, few are chosen. Last year Amina had literally been in “the industry” for a few months. She’d had Polaroid's and only about two or three shoots. These showed great potential,at least to my eye. I received a “wake up” call today in the form of an e-mail from this site mentioning a reply to this forum. I was perfectly prepared to discover nothing new on Amina.



I’m delighted to say that I found nothing of the sort. Amina is now represented by:

Grace Models.
Why Not (a top 5 runway agency in Milan)
Elite Barcelona (and by default, Elite agencies on both sides of the big pond)
Modelwerk, Germany
among others

She has also had several great new shoots.

The latest trend in runway as well as print has been models from the former eastern block. An undeniable source of beautiful women, they are often typified by very high cheekbones, strong features, and somewhat icy persona (I’m really generalizing here, so please know I realize these looks are not universal, its just a type that has been popular of late). In the past we’ve seen “heroin chic” “The waifs” and others. The current trend too shall pass.

Enter Amina. Someone, or some group sees the potential here. She really does fly in the face of the current mannequin. Big doe eyes, full mouth, and heat where there has been too much chill recently.

I know most of you know where Algeria in, but permit me to babble just a moment longer. Algeria is located in northern Africa. It was long (since the late 18th century) a colony of France. The French were finally pushed out in the early 1960’s after protracted violence. I mention this because from Amina’s looks, I think she is likely of mixed Arab/Berber and French ancestry. I rather doubt that she still lives in Algeria (I don’t think the fashion industry has much of a presence there), but I have no inside information as to where she makes her home.

In any case, with the right handling, and a few breaks, this girl could easily hit top 50 status. Whether she does or not time will tell.
