Aminata Niaria

Have any of Aminata fans located any Model Talks or any FTV videos with Aminata?

I've been searching and still cannot find anything.. She had a Phenominal 2010 S/S 2010 season... seems like she should have a Model Talks by now.....

How long have you been modeling?
Just two years for me. Before, I was just modeling in Paris. Every time I did a shoot or other [modeling] event, people would say to me, “Why don’t you go to New York? You have a beautiful face, you’d get work there!” I’d say that I was doing my schooling, that’s why. Now I say, “OK, I’m stopping school and moving.” This is my first time in New York, and I’m happy. It’s so exciting.
How do you keep your skin healthy?
I hope my skin is healthy! Every morning when I wake up, I put freezing water on my face. I like the feel of it, and I think it makes my skin stronger. That’s it.
When do you feel the most beautiful?
When I wake up. It’s natural — It’s much more "you." When you wake up, you see your face, and everything is fresh and clean because you’ve been sleeping for eight hours. That's when I feel best.

Backstage at Victoria’s Secret this morning, we played favorites with Aminata Niaria. It’s her very first Victoria’s Secret show and she’s super excited, so we wanted to get to know more about the new beauty.
What’s your favorite song?
Black Eyed Peas. In the morning, I like “Boom Boom Pow.”
Favorite city?
I’m from Senegal, but now I’m based in New York. I love Paris and New York. It’s half and half! Too difficult to decide.
Favorite things to do on your days off?
I love to go shopping and doing fitness—bicycle, running in Paris. And I like to go to the cinema with my friends.
How does it feel to walk for Victoria’s Secret?
I feel so sexy! I feel 100 percent confident with my body, but with the show you have to feel 110 percent, so much more confidence in your body. I’m so happy to be here and I can’t wait for tonight!
Who’s the first person you told?
My boyfriend—he was so excited! Then I told my mom—I love my mom, she’s my best friend.

A Day In The Life Of: Aminata Niaria, Rising Star Model

October 2, 2009 7:33 pm

It was Alber Elbaz who discovered Aminata Niaria almost three years ago. Now, the Senegalese beauty is something of a Paris darling. We asked her to chronicle her packed day of racing around to castings, shows, and, of course, parties. Here’s what Aminata did yesterday.

Thursday, October 1
8:40 a.m. I’m en route to my first show, Hiroko Koshino. I have a nice, brisk walk there to wake me up!

9 a.m. I arrive at the Carrousel du Louvre. I am lucky enough to get a mani-pedi and a massage backstage before the show. Great start to the day!

10:30 a.m. I go into hair and makeup, which I love. Phophie Mathias is doing my makeup. Very cool.

1:05 p.m. The show is up! I have to run off to my fitting at Véronique Leroy at 2 p.m.

1:30 p.m. I arrive a half hour ahead of my scheduled fitting, hoping they can take me early so I can get everything done today. Fingers crossed I won’t have to wait…

3:25 p.m. Arrive for my Stella McCartney casting with James Scully, who is working on the show. It took forever to get here! You can definitely tell it’s fashion week in Paris. There’s so much traffic, people, and action!

4 p.m. Out of the casting with a lot of missed calls from IMG! I’ve got to run run run to Rick Owens!

4:20 p.m. Arrive at Les Beaux-Arts de Paris and head straight into show rehearsal. Then on to makeup, which is a really clean and sharp look. I love it and will get some tips on how to do it myself.

5:30 p.m. Retouching and some backstage photos. I see Rick Owens and we have a photo together! His work is very strong and captivating—I just love it.

6:10 p.m. The show has just finished a bit late and I’m running behind for the next. I’m off to A.F. Vandevorst. Got to run to the Musée de l’Homme!

8 p.m. Leaving A.F. Vandervorst for a quick fitting at Issey Miyake.

10 p.m. I run home for a quick change so I can stop by the Vogue Covers 1920-2009 soirée at the Hôtel de Crillon. I wear a BCBG Max Azria dress and grab a Swarovski clutch.

10:30 p.m. Arrive at the party fashionably late. I am very excited to speak with some of the people who I meet briefly in castings—Carine Roitfeld, Patti Wilson. There are so many wonderful personalities here. Unfortunately I can’t stay long. I have a 7 a.m. call time for Issey Miyake.

11:10 p.m. Turning the lights out. My day is finished. Off to get some beauty sleep for tomorrow is a new day! Au revoir!
