Nothing replicates the chemistry of a couple in love—you can practically see fireworks! So when DKNY launched its signature women and men's fragrances in 1999, they hired then-newlyweds (and ultra-gorge models) Esther Canadas and Mark Vanderloo to star in the campaign.
And this April, DKNY is doing it again. In addition to freshening up the look of the packaging, plus adding a new scent to the lineup (DKNY Women Energizing Eau de Toilette, $55, is a lighter, more citrus-y version of the original women's scent), another real-life model couple—Anja Rubik, from Poland, and Sasha Knezevic, born in Serbia—will star in the campaign.
In an exclusive interview, Cosmo reveals what this newly-engaged, smoking-hot twosome had to say about working together, plus their steamy secrets to keeping their relationship spontaneous and fresh (one involves Corn Flakes!
COSMO: Tell us how the two of you met.
Anja Rubik: It was on a modeling job in New Orleans about two and a half years ago. We definitely liked each other, but nothing happened. Then a few months later, we randomly bumped into each other on an NYC street and decided to grab a coffee. Our first official date was a week later in Central Park…
COSMO: Sasha, tell us the secret spot where you love to smell fragrance on Anja?
Sasha Knezvic: For me, it's definitely the back of the neck. I love to kiss her there.

COSMO: You previously shot a GAP ad together. How was the DKNY project different?
AR: We were shooting on the streets of New York City, which is where we fell in love. Plus the city shut down Sixth Avenue for us—I mean, we were a block from Times Square, running through the streets, jumping in and out of cabs, even standing on top of cabs, kissing!
SK: We were actually a bit upset when it ended. I got to make-out with my girlfriend for hours—and get paid for it! That definitely doesn't happen every day.
COSMO: So tell us...have you ever made out in a cab in real life?
AR: Yes—all the time when we're on dates!
COSMO: New Yorkers use their cab time to catch up on phone calls, touchup their hair and makeup, answer emails. What do you do?
AR: I definitely make calls and email a lot. If I'm going to the airport, I apply lotion to my skin, so the flight doesn't dry me out. Sometimes I even change my clothes in a cab.
SK: Well I don't change clothes! But I definitely use the time to catch up on emails. My favorite thing to do, though, is look out the window and become mesmerized with the buildings and the city. I've lived in New York for about 4 years, and I still appreciate it.
COSMO: You obviously have crazy schedules and are constantly traveling. What are some ways you bond when you're together?
AR: Well we have this funny habit of eating Corn Flakes late at night! We'll go to dinner or catch a movie, then come home and eat cereal for dessert.
COSMO: Is distance ever a good thing for the two of you?
AR: Missing each other for two or three days can keep things fresh. But any longer than that, and you can start to feel detached.
SK: Yeah, sex is really good for reconnecting!
AR: Definitely. The closer you can get—fast—the closer you feel.
