I experienced the same! "y" instead of "j" in my name! I mean, not in a newspaper of course, but in several places in England. I think it's because Polish "j" sounds rather like English "y" in words and they probably write it as it sounds .

Btw Anja's name is really Anna or Ania, what (I guess) everybody here knows, so making a mistake in an already mistaken (I know it's a nickname but still...) name... Kinda funny
