Anja Rubik

^ i don't think the EA is anja either.. look at the nose, it's all wrong :ninja:

That's not her on the Emporio Armani ad. the nose is a given. :ermm:

and man why wasn't that last pic used for the issue? :judge:

are you really sure Glam City is her?
the fragrance is so new and someone else would have noticed I think and the nose?
Exactly. I feel like we're not even looking at the same pictures because they don't look look like her to me at all... but tomayto, tomahto.

I see. I thought it was her because some source says so. They must have miss-id too -_-

And about the last Nylon ed, it's a pity it wasn't used. But if in a case the picture that is allowed to be used is limited to only one of Anja, I will surely use that with her shirt off shoulder. It's so sexy ^_^

i am confused too. the eyelids and ears look like her; the lips and chin don't. let's not close the case yet

still, would be wonderful it turns out it is

If only for a day, Oscar de la Renta dressed up the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San Diego.

There's no telling what scientists at the famed research center made of Anja Rubik and Magdalena Frackowiak strutting across the promenade for photographer Craig McDean, but consumers will be able to see for themselves in ads that will run in fashion magazines in August.

In 1959, physician Jonas Salk, who developed the polio vaccine, turned to architect Louis Kahn to create the Modernist research facility he envisioned in the La Jolla community. Getting permission to use the landmark for a fashion shoot took some wrangling.

Three formal requests were made and each was "very politely declined," said Alex Bolen, chief executive officer of Oscar de la Renta. "They said, 'Look, we're a serious research institute and we don't do these types of things.'"

But de la Renta, Bolen, McDean and Doug Lloyd, creative director of Lloyd (+ co), were not deterred. As a last-ditch effort, the creative team went to the institute's list of trustees and, sure enough, one was the spouse of a longtime de la Renta client. The designer called the client personally and she helped get the go-ahead. In lieu of a location fee, the company made a donation to the institute, though Bolen declined to say how much.

Set atop a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the location had no shortage of wind, but the hair and makeup team of Oribe Canales and Peter Philips and stylist Alex White soldiered on. De la Renta, an admirer of Kahn's architecture, was pleased with the final takes.

"The bold lines and dramatic setting of the Salk Institute provided the perfect environment for capturing the look and feel of my designs," he said.

There wasn't anxiety that the stark, modern structures might deter from the designer clothes. "Our biggest concern was rain, as it is whenever you shoot outside," Bolen said.

It’s not a ball until the belles arrive. A delegation of models–both new and established–will brave the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday evening for the Costume Institute Gala. Reportedly, Kate Hudson had a change of plans and won’t attend with Stella McCartney–but the popular Brit couldn’t have picked a better date than Kate Moss, who’s attending with the designer. Christopher Bailey won’t have Agyness Deyn at the Burberry table. Aside from Lily Donaldson, the designer is bringing 21 year-old Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who’s rumored to be the next big face of the company. Although Russian powerhouse Sasha Pivovarova has been breaking records with those consecutive Prada campaigns, she’s wearing Rag and Bone on the big night. Matthew Williamson’s Pucci table will be one of the prettiest in the room, as Coco Rocha, Anja Rubik, and Joy Bryant will entertain the company’s creative head.

ODLR is going to be great again!:heart: can't wait for final result! :buzz:

what do they mean by "one of"?! they can put a few monkeys in coco's stead and the table will be the prettiest.

cannot wait for oscar de la renta f/w 08, though

So this was like a year ago when she attented the Costume Institute Gala and we couldn't find any pics, right? I'm so glad this time Anja will be fully represented :buzz:

new york times got this to say about this photoshoot:

"Just one image of a black model appears in the issue, midway through a 17-page article photographed by Miles Aldridge and titled the “Vagaries of Fashion.” In it, the glacial blond Anja Rubik portrays an indolent, overdressed Park Avenue princess with a gilded apartment, a couture wardrobe, two towhead children and a collection of heavy rocks. The sole black model in the pictorial is more modestly attired, in an aproned pinafore.
She plays the maid."
come to think of it--when i first saw this and saw anja in it, i didn't even notice anyone else :P

that purple valentino bag. -_- i dream about having that in red, now even more so because of anja!

Wow, Valentino cap and reprints. Thank you. Btw wrong id in the Emporio Armani City Glam ad. I watched the tv ad in Youtube and found out it's not Anja. My apologise to all

Another old one from Bazaar November 2004
