Area S/S 2023 New York

Dunno why but I almost like it, if only it wasn't so random. I do like bright colors and color schemes and a bit of humour doesn't hurt. Pity it's not more elaborated.

...wow.

This is exactly why nobody really cares about New York Fashion Week anymore. Area is a somehow hyped brand yet their propositions have been absolutely ridiculous. The funny thing is that this collection is too serious to compete with brands such as Moschino. It also tries to be sexy in a really awkward, rather basic way. I don't know, maybe Area should have collaborated with Collina Strada, it's almost the same level of being delusional and cool.

An awful collection filled with poorly executed copies…there’s an Alaïa by Mulier dress, there’s Moschino’s Chanel-esque parodies, there’s Valentino’s feather dusters.

Whatever they did “design” is worse still…costumes for a cheap carnival in a Brazilian village look better than this.

LOL it was discontinuous Animorphs, now Plants vs Zombies. NYFW couldn’t be more comical. I wouldn’t be surprised if i see some Teletubbies tmr.

OMG! I was not expecting that Pyer Moss Haute Couture collection was going to be as influential!!

I guess the concept is fruit shapes? bananas (I don't mind the iterations in different colours and materials), a citrus wedge, rambutans I guess.

Maybe the inspiration came from that first season episode of Drag Race. I'm the LOVELY Miss Mandarin... Thp thp thp thp thp thp thp thp.

I don't understand how this gets praise in the broader fashion sphere. It can't really exist all that well outside of the runway show or look book context. Even editorially there's no real way to style most of this because the majority of the looks are reliant on the rest of collection or are just way too obvious.
