. How did you feel getting your casting Polaroid shot by Vogue?
I felt excited. Fashion was a new thing for me, so when I heard they had requested for me to see them, it was such a joy.
2. What did you wear? Did you have a uniform you wore to castings?
I wore a simple grey tank top with black pants and Converse sneakers. I put my hair up in a ponytail and left my skin natural without makeup, just wearing moisturizer. I was very new to the business and, at the time, always kept things simple.
3. Do you remember anything out of the ordinary about that day?
I was a bit late to the meeting, so I was very nervous. I didn’t know the city well, and I got a bit lost in Times Square, so the casting director at the time even called to check up on me because she was worried!
4. Did you prepare for it in any special way?
I didn’t do anything special or out of the ordinary to prepare for it. I love to be natural, and I think that’s the best way to approach things. I always make sure to get a lot of sleep on a daily basis and take care of my body and skin by working out, eating healthy, and drinking a lot of water.
5. How have you changed since then and what have you learned?
I would say I have not changed the person I am, but I have matured with my experience in the industry and life. I have learned that modeling is a job and has rules to follow like any other profession. I have learned to keep things in perspective and not to take things personally.
6. What advice do you have for models attending castings?
The only advice I can give is what I follow myself: Always be yourself. It’s important to be well-prepared for every opportunity. Taking care of your body by working out, staying fit, eating healthy, and getting enough rest are keys for success.
