Mathurin Meheult (1882-1958) born in Brittany, won the Albert Kahn's foundation prize in 1912, began a world tour and spent few months in Japan before he came back in France because of the beginning of the first world war in September 1914.

that was great! very funny! i took this from a national contest exhibition. it's from maria ester joao and it's salt and a couple of mirrors reflect it and complete a circle!

Gordale Scar by James Ward
one of the most powerful paintings i seen in a while. i saw it in person at the tate britian and it was huge and just confronts you in the face.

Gordale Scar by James Ward reminds me a lot of Snow Storm: Hannibal and His Army Crossing The Alps by William Turner.

Look at how the clouds affect the colour of the sun and how a huge wave bares down on them, like the constant burden of their mission.

Loving the Robert Payton Reids and Joao is insane!!! That is crazy..I had to literally look at it three times because I never realized it was salt and mirrors even though it was stated.

That James Ward painting is incredible- I can't imagine standing in front it it, being so huge and all. It seems very imposing and like it forces you to think deeply. wonderful painting.
