Mathurin Meheult (1882-1958) born in Brittany, won the Albert Kahn's foundation prize in 1912, began a world tour and spent few months in Japan before he came back in France because of the beginning of the first world war in September 1914.

one of the most powerful paintings i seen in a while. i saw it in person at the tate britian and it was huge and just confronts you in the face.
Loving the Robert Payton Reids and Joao is insane!!! That is crazy..I had to literally look at it three times because I never realized it was salt and mirrors even though it was stated.
That James Ward painting is incredible- I can't imagine standing in front it it, being so huge and all. It seems very imposing and like it forces you to think deeply. wonderful painting.
