While most paper crafts are made by cutting and folding, the amazing work of Yulia Brodskaya uses quilling, a technique that uses strips of paper rolled, shaped, and glued to the background.
In this new series of ‘experimental murals’ she uses hand-dyed yarn, pushpins and empty spray-paint cans to create what would usually be 2-d mix-media works into 3 dimensional sculptures.
It’s amazing how Moki can layer her paintings onto wood, integrate them seamlessly with the textured grain, and still deliver a solid piece of art. Interestingly, Moki chooses to forgo the use of titles in practically all her works, explaining that she wants viewers to reflect their own personality, without a filter or guide.
Although the German artist considers herself primarily a painter, having graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg, she also works with photography, animation, sculpture, comics, and illustration.
