Athina Onassis Roussel

"Athina, 20 years old, and Doda, 32, travelled in honeymoon to Europe at Monday night.

As the presence of journalists was forbidden at the wedding, Miranda said he has tried to convince the couple to publish some pictures after the ceremony.

"Athina had already even agreed, but changed her mind after seeing the image of her dead mother shown by the (Brazilian) TV show Fantastico, on Sunday night."

About the wedding party, Miranda told he was emotioned to take Athina to the altar. "When I saw Doda crying, I almost cried too, but I could hold it."

"All the moments where Athina was present were beautiful. She was gorgeous, exuberant, overflowing happiness.", he said.

Doda´s father confirmed that only the sister Sandrine Johanna Roussel appeared to the wedding. Her other two siblings, the stepmother, Gaby, and the father, Thierry Roussel, were not present. Asked about the reason of the ausence of the father, Miranda answered: "Athina did not comment and we respect her silence."

It´s known, however, that them both fought over the control of the inheritage of the grandfather of Athina, the milionaire greek shipowner Aristotle Onassis, estimated between 1 and 3 billion dollars.

The Time article is interesting. I think if Athina truly wishes to be president of the Onassis Foundation & have the lion's share of her grandfather's fortune, she should take initiative to educate herself for it, study the business or something, learn and train with the business in Athens. Otherwise, she should just be happy for her mother's share and continue with her discreet equestrian ambitions. As much as I dislike the Onassis board members, and always have done, I have to agree with them about the matter of Athina and the presidency. She must be prepared to work extremely hard for it if she wants it, because it's a tough business. Athina has to show she has the capacity to do it, and she hasn't shown that yet. All she has shown is that she can jump fences (all very good for what she wants to do but not helpful for the shipping business). :p

I don't like her husband, he's such a control freak. I wouldn't be surprised if he told her to get lipo!

I could of sworn I read in Hola or something that he was pestering her to lose weight and encouraging plastic surgery. The mother of his child said he is a goldigger. This was a couple years back so my memory is hazy

You are right, I remember this too. Apparently he teased her a bit about it. Something about love handles? And then she started working out harder and lost the weight. She also started dressing better etc. I don't know I find him somewhat shady. :ninja:

I do feel sorry for her because she was surrounded by people (her own father included) that used her as a pawn for the money. From what little one hears in the media she seems very bitter about this, hence the distancing from the Onassis name/history. Though it would be amazing if she could turn the whole legacy around and become this glamorous fashionable jet setter.

It's true that there was an intense legal battle between the Onassis Foundation board of directors ("the graybeards") and Thierry Roussel, and then when Athina turned 18, she sued her father for the reversal of the power of attorney agreement she claimed she had been duped into signing. The case was settled out of court to Athina's advantage, although she had to pay Daddy off with a lump sum worth a few million. Both sides of the battle, that is Roussel and the Onassis Foundation, operated during her childhood to suit their own agendas. As a child, she understandably took for granted that she could trust her father.
2004 seems to be the time of the permanent break between them. They have been estranged since that year. They were photographed together ONCE (in St Tropez at an equestrian event) in 2004, and never again afterwards.

I am, however, the voice of dissent here about Doda. I like Doda. I don't trust that ex-wife of his. She is the shady one, in my opinion.

she looks great. but i think the date is wrong. august 2008 hasn't happened yet.

She's got a great body, slim and athletic and feminine at the same time, and she looks happy and healthy, and it appears that she eats whatever she wants.
That's the ticket really. Exercise & happy thoughts will do the trick much better than any rigid diet. B)
