Just saw Saint Laurent, and have to say even though she has a small role she is quite good in it, and absolutely gorgeous. She has such a strong presence! Hope she gets other good opportunities to work as an actress.

Meet Aymeline Valade, the model muse
Model Aymeline Valade shot to fame as Yves Saint Laurent's muse Betty Catroux in the biopic 'Saint Laurent'. Here she showcases her laidback look and shares her style tips
BY VICTORIA MOSS | 15 MARCH 2015

Describe your style:
I'm very classic, almost conservative. I like a simple trouser, from Céline for example, with a white T-shirt and a black sweater. I don't really like weird stuff. I like an easygoing look.

No frills and prints?
No! It's in my jewellery that I generally make it a bit more fancy. Dior gave me a chunky gold ring , which I'm wearing at the moment.

Where did you grow up?
My dad was in the army so we moved a lot. I was born in Montpellier then we went to Lyon, then Paris, then Nice. When I was 23 I went back to Paris by myself and I'm still there now. I like to travel but it's always nice to get back home. Paris is so beautiful, I know where I am.
Where have you been recently?
I went to the Maldives. It was beautiful but after three days it was kind of boring because there is nothing to do. The south of France will always be my favourite place.

What's the key to French style?
It's all in the details. You can just look at it and see it's better because of the way it moves, the way it feels when you touch it, the finish… Even if you don't see it, you feel it.
When did you start modelling?
At about 15, but it was really my student job. I was very busy doing little shows, bridal shows from Monaco to Montpellier. My first fashion week show was for Nicolas Ghesquière when he was at Balenciaga . That was pretty fantastic.

Your first film role was as YSL's muse, Betty Catroux. What was that like?
Amazing. First because of playing Betty. She's Betty Catroux. Everybody knows about her even if they don't know all about her - we've always seen that blond figure next to Saint Laurent . She inspired a whole generation of women. She's really rad because she's wild and a free spirit.

Were you worried about playing her?
When I met the director, I was thinking, 'This is huge. If I do a movie I want to be good; I don't want to have one shot at acting and be bad and then bye-bye. I want to keep my credibility because I don't want to kill my modelling career for a movie.' So there were a lot of questions. But when I said yes, I stopped doing everything else. I studied who she was, read and watched and looked at everything, and met people who know her. I had to dye my hair seven times to get the right colour.

How have you enjoyed dressing for the red carpet?
I wore a suit for the Cannes premiere because I didn't want to stress out about my hair, my dress, the stairs, whether I looked good. I just thought, 'This is my first ever Cannes and I want to enjoy that moment.' If I'm only going to be the next best actress because I have beautiful gowns on the red carpet and no one cares about how I play the part, then it's a loss for them not for me. I don't judge people for doing it, I understand. It's modern entertainment.

Are you on social media?
I'm going to have to open an official account because people are pretending they're me. A girl is running one on Instagram. At first I found it cool because she was doing all the work for me, but then she posted a picture of my friend Cara (Delevingne) and wrote, 'I miss my buddies,' as if she was me. I was like, I don't like you any more, you can't write things as if I'd said them!

I saw it too and I was really surprised by her. She was really captivating.
