My main issue with K L Simmons is that I know the guy who was ghost designing for her. He signed a contract saying he would in no way reveal he was connected to the company and how. I know a lot of designers will manage teams and some will go so far as to just fix a few things here and there but essentially it is still their vision. She kind of would just...show up at the show, really.
As far as the 'debate' with urban brands go...well, that whole discussion is rather boring, isn't it? Intellectual, overexpensive high fashion will continue (though the outlook for next spring is kind of despressing, non) and so will the so called street brands. Either way, all of those designers are still making some cash and none of us who b$%^& and moan on the board will gain one cent. There are no superiority issues because people go and buy wonderful things and are still unhappy, you see them all the time, sulking about in the most wonderful silks, the most beautiful cutting, the most banal denim. Give me someone who is 100% happy in a cheap tee shirt living their life and i'll show you a winner.
And even though it's a little off topic, maybe that's what those Marc shows are all about this week: how important are clothes anyway?
