The news that director John Hughes had died brought to mind some of the indelible images from his films Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and (our all-time fave) The Breakfast Club. And that in turn made us nostalgic for our own 1980’s school days. A quick study of the Fall shows turned up plenty of schoolgirl classics. There were pinafores at United Bamboo and Luella, crisp oxford shirts at Burberry Prorsum and Giles, and trim blazers at Dsquared² and the Gap. And can’t you just see a Pretty in Pink-era Molly Ringwald vibing on the quirky hat-scarf-belt-boots-stripey top combo at Marc by Marc Jacobs?

I love this:heart:

I bought a really sweet rucksack and classes start in about 3 weeks so I'm all set to go:p

Those are really pretty looks, girls would look great in them, too bad most of those clothes are very expensive ... the looks I adore are Marni, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Proenza, Hanni, Giles, GAP & Burberry.

Oh, I get it... this is schoolgirl-INSPIRED fashion. Almost like a re-imagination of schoolgirl fashion. Very interesting stuff. I usually think of crisp and clean garments in a school-inspired setting. You know, it's not about some rock influenced T-shirt, skinny jeans, and Converses these days. Instead, it's about a sophisticated and stylish outfit with lots of color and girly flair. I like this. Post #3 features my favorite looks. The Luella outfit (second row, second picture) has a '60s feel to it color-wise. Maybe a '70s feel as well.

I love the Dsquared one.
I feel like all of this is inspired by Gossip Girl. Thank god they don't broadcast Gossip Girl in Lithuania and you can only watch it via internet, because otherwise there would be a Blair or Serena clone army walking around...

It looks like its too much to go to school but i prefer having a serena and a blair clone walking around every five feet than an overload of fleece sweatshirts, plaid shorts and flipflops. People got lazy, me included...its refreshing to see a new school attire trend.

 i LOVE this whole trend - and it's not just a trend in my opinion. Academic preppy chic is sort of a classic 'look' and there's a wealth of brilliant and wearable outfits to be found under this kind of heading.
Then again, I'm a sucker for anything remotely bookish...

ughhhhhhh i haven't even thought about fall clothes yet. i don't want summer to be over!
