Bag Borrowing

That is one GROSS idea! Next thing you know, people will be able to rent underwear off the internet...
I really hope not..... now that's just nasty :ninja:

Contrary to the popular opinion here, I actually think this website has an okay idea. However, I would never utilize their services... when I pay money for something, I want it to be mine. Permenantly.

I could see someone who is really desperate to impress people doing this. They could rent a different bag every month, then pretend they grew tired of them or just got a new one or whatever, and have people fooled into thinking they had this fantastic collection of handbags. In my opinion it is a idiotic idea, especially for some of those lower end bags on the site that couldn't possibly cost more than $100 in the first place.

 :woot: i couldnt believe my eyes, what a great idea
next time i'd better rent IT by the month

BAG IT: Lots of “It” girls get their “It” bags for free. For the nonboldface names, there’s a new source — Bagborroworsteal.com. A $99 monthly fee lets you borrow the Kate Spade, Gucci or Prada bag of your choice. For $20, customers can have Coach, Ralph Lauren or a trendy bag with no name. You can keep the bag as long as you want, or trade it in for another as soon as it bores you, for that “I have 1,000 more just like this in my closet” look. If the relationship lasts, Bagborroworsteal.com will quote you a price. The service, which is two months old, says it has 500 customers and an inventory of 2,000 bags, although its Web site displays 562 choices. At least one of those, a Gucci canvas logo bag with a chain handle and leather trim, appears to be from the current crop. The company does not yet buy directly from manufacturers, but all its bags are authentic, said co-founders Lloyd Lapidus and Greg Pippo. The average bag stays out for at least a month, and so far, the bags have come back in good condition, said Lapidus. The site charges a fee for damage, which varies depending on the bag, but won’t exceed $150.

from wwd daily

something about this seems ridiculous to me...i don't really believe in renting anything... waste of money... imo...

There is already a thread Bag Borrowing page 3

 ooops excuses and thanks for posting the link
see since the info was just published on wwd of today
i took it for granted that its a fresh newsbit,
but.. see :woot: tFS and beats wwd

personally i dont like 'designer's bags' but if i did,
i'd love the opiton to have as many as possible,
this is the 'IT' game after all.
why should i spend a small fortune on something that
will be outdated in two months? i can't see the point

i wouldnt mind renting two 'lux' bags every month,
show off and then refresh..

What happens if you don't return it? :shifty:

99$ for a 900$ purse seems like a sweet deal.

Unless they have your credit card number

Why in hell would people pay 50$ a month to borrow a jelly kelly (retail price 18$)

I don't think there is anything really gross about it. I think it's quite a good idea. However if you look on their site their bags aren't really that new. I think if they were I would be more into it.

Well Well Well!!! Wadduyaknow! I had 2 laugh when i saw this, because although i personally would never borrow a bag from anyone at all, i can see this kind of service taking off, there are lots of 'Wannabee desperados' out there, who would love to pretend that they have lots of money and can afford to be changing bags regularly, when in actual fact they either borrow or carry fakes!! :flower:
