Balenciaga S/S 2026 Paris

Out of all the debut, I think this is probably the most unsettling. He will be the one in danger because Balenciaga is a house that has set the tone of the fashion conversation twice over the past 25 years and for a very longtime.

While he is coming to « clean the mess caused by Demna », at one point, he will really have to challenge himself from a fashion POV.

He is the one in danger, even more after looking at his accessories.

We both know that you posted this in the Valentino thread before deleting it.

i mean no one is sad he is in danger... pallet cleanser for balenciaga before he retires sounds good for the rest of us.

The headhunters are in real danger tho if they don't find someone fresh in between tthis debut and his retirement

It’s not a bad collection for RTW… beautiful pieces without a doubt but it’s going to be a very tough sell for the current Balenciaga client. Peepeepee needs to absolutely get it together on the bags cause nothing there works!

Feels like that moment when you take a chocolate soufflé out of the oven and it just sunks..

Underwhelming and not even safe but just weirdly timid to say the least. It also felt very disjointed, like too many ideas or collections in one. Covered in the most saccharine of flairs.
He desperately needs a new accessory designer and stylist. I know the glasses were a way keeping a certain familiarity for the Demna customers ,same with the wedged flip flops. It just cheapened the whole thing. Not that there was much to see. I knew his couture would be more exciting than his RTW but I did not expect him to be so stale. Then again maybe it is all to have a more smooth transition.

comparing the moodboard to the actual show is a huge letdown. a lot of the looks did not need those alien-like sunglasses, reference to demna or not. pierpaolo also loves a dress with pockets. some of the last dresses were quite stunning, but the collection as a whole was pretty mundane. he will do better (i would hope) as the next season comes.
It make me angry 😆

Honestly what is he going to do with this brand next?

He already PPP-ified the biggest Cristobal icons with this collection. The Balenciaga archive, like Dior's, is more iconic than it is expansive and that's what Nicolas, Galliano, etc. reacted to when they inserted a lot of themselves into those brands, but with PPP he left Valentino feeling like he already said everything he could say.

I really don't want to see PPP-ified versions of my favorite Nicolas collections especially seeing what his version of Demna's tenure looked like on Anne Hathaway.

This part is not his fault, but how are they even going to sell this to the client he is chasing? They would need to completely rehaul every store and layoff most of their staff. Sales from department stores and conciergeries are not enough to get them back to the $2 billion euro cap.

Tbh I was semi expecting a co-ed show too (I am pretty certain Balenciaga was doing more revenues with menswear than womenswear), but it's pretty obvious now that Kering is willing to sacrifice that cash flow if that helps Gucci; ie if Demna male customers abandon Balenciaga to flock to Gucci.
It's a bet and they are making Balenciaga pay for it.
