Oh my gosh, I am totally in love with all of those flats posted on this page. I have a slight fetish...

Grill: Wow, great colors!! Love them both! Thank you so much for the photo! I think I'll print it out and take it with me to the cobbler when I get the flats. Hehe! Still deciding on color etc... *blush* How much does it cost to get the soles redone? Approx.? I've been looking at a pair of satin Lanvins in purple/violet on eBay, but I'm afraid that they'll be too fragile for my use and that I should go for a leather pair instead. If they're more "sturdy", I guess. But if I get them I'll redo the soles like you have done. I think I'll do it no matter what kind of fabric I go for actually. Want them to last for a loooooooong time. Hehe.
For sizing? Do you prefer the Lanvins to be a bit snug or a bit bigger than your foot? I use flats in 36, 36,5 and 37...and they all fit. Even if some are a bit bigger than others.
Thanks again!!![]()
Vista - I'm in Paris and go to a special cobbler who typically makes shoes as opposed to just fixing them, but he does work with Hermes and Louboutin and was recommended to me for re-soleing by Louboutin. The price of the soleing is 30 Euros per pair.
The satin ones are very beautiful but even with the resoling I would be very wary about their fragility - I'm thinking of water marks and stains which simply won't wipe away like on patent or certain leathers. I was eyeing up some grey ones on the web but ruled them out after having bought these 2 red pairs.
Sizing I think is very particular. Personally, as I have very thin feet with no meat on them whatsoever you can see all the bonesand no real heel and a super high instep I have a big problem keeping any shoe without a strap on my foot. However these Lanvin flats with the elastic are the only shoes I can wear without them flying off my feet! Last summer they had a lot of flats without the elastic and they were like boats on my feet. I have to have the elastic pretty tight and the shoe kind of snug but not smaller than my true size. I typically wear a 36 in Manolo blahnik, prada and in Lanvin, but a 35 in Gucci! That said, because these shoes are handmade there are slight variations between pairs even if they are labelled as the same size.
Having spoken with the salespeople, apparently as far as comfort goes for people with wider feet - the satin ones are the least comfortable as they are the most rigid/tight around the foot, then comes the patent, then the regular leather, watersnake and then the pythons. The reptile ones are slightly looser on the foot as they aren't pulled in so tightly by the elastic.
Hi Vista - I will try and get my DH to take a photo for me to post so that you can see what my cobbler does with my Lanvins. Please be patient though as he's always super busy!
I picked up 2 more pairs of Lanvin ballet flats earlier this week - red patent and red water snake! They had their full complement of spring shoes in stock and there's a good selection. Python, water snake, patent, glazed lambskin, satin and regular leather in blues, green, yellow, red and a variety of neutrals. The python flats are gorgeous but a bit too delicate for everyday pavement pounding! I will try to post pics later.
yeah that was bothering me as well - but i do love the color/cut. hmmm...
i guess i'll wait and see.... just ordered a pair of camel lanvins with a bow at the front
can't wait to get them! if they don't work out I'll get these then.
Hi andie - I'm glad you managed to score a neutral pair of Lanvins. And the bows are a cute touch too.
This is for mundobolsa - the watersnakes are available in red, beige, yellow and a sage grey green (I think I might get the greens next) but the beige are really gorgeous they look a bit nude but aren't so good with my super ivory skin.
