Ballet flats

I now regret the bad things I've said about Lanvin flats before..
I had a new look at them at Printemps and they were soft and fantastic.
I think the quality felt comparable to Repetto, but the colours and shapes are very different.. I would love some satin ones. :flower:

I have had no problem with quality of the Lanvin Ballet flats and have about 7 pairs from last summer and the autumn. When I bought my first pair the sales guy was really solicitious in informing me of the need to have the soles completely redone by the cobbler as otherwise they are too fragile for anything other than indoor use.

My cobbler here not only completely covered the sole in a rubbery-crepe but also put on a heel raising the back of the shoe off the ground by about half a centimetre. This stops the leather wearing at the back. Some of the chevre and the glazed lambskin leathers are sensitive to water. However, I found that they made the autumn flats in slightly hardier weather that has withstood rain, etc. My cobbler (who is recommended by the Louboutin boutique here and also makes highend custom shoes) said that they were incredibly well made. Personally, they work well for me and I am not keen to try others.

The satin ones are gorgeous - but I think I'll resist as they really are fragile!

They have done some in python for Spring and I think they might also be doing some in water snake. They're really stunning and the way the reptile skin varigates the colour is beautiful, but I have a bit of a conscience when it comes to buying snakeskin.

Hi Grill! Would you be able to post a photo of a pair that has the heel raising? I just want to see if you can tell by looking at it. If I buy a pair of Lanvins I would want them to last and if I can do anything to "improve" them, I would. Thanks! :)

^tory burch runs kind of big. I usually wear in american sizes a 7.5, sometimes 8 even in flats, and I wear 7s in Tory Burch.

I tried on the new range of leather ballerina flats from Oasis today.
For £35 (545 NOK) they're very comfortable. I'm pleasantly surprised!

The only colour that's missing (almost) from my flats-collection is tan, so I'll be sure to get a hold of these when they arrive. They may look dull, but irl they're not. Tried on the black version and I loved them! :D

And speaking of flats! My Dolce & Gabbana Animalier flats arrived yesterday!! Happy!!

Has anybody tried these YSL?

Hi Vista - I will try and get my DH to take a photo for me to post so that you can see what my cobbler does with my Lanvins. Please be patient though as he's always super busy! ^_^

I picked up 2 more pairs of Lanvin ballet flats earlier this week - red patent and red water snake! They had their full complement of spring shoes in stock and there's a good selection. Python, water snake, patent, glazed lambskin, satin and regular leather in blues, green, yellow, red and a variety of neutrals. The python flats are gorgeous but a bit too delicate for everyday pavement pounding! I will try to post pics later.

oh grill, please you gotta post a pic of the watersnake!!
i ve been wanting one in white!!

Leyla - I'll get my husband to do the pics this pm. However, I don't think the watersnake comes in white though just red, greeny grey, mustard yellow and beige - they have white python though. I love the blue python and the green.

Pics as promised -

Most recent buys watersnake and patent in red for Leyla and cobbler sole job for Vista!

i loooove the red patent! ill go look for a pair asap. i was just in need of red patent flats...:innocent::innocent:

Grill: Wow, great colors!! Love them both! Thank you so much for the photo! I think I'll print it out and take it with me to the cobbler when I get the flats. Hehe! Still deciding on color etc... *blush* How much does it cost to get the soles redone? Approx.? I've been looking at a pair of satin Lanvins in purple/violet on eBay, but I'm afraid that they'll be too fragile for my use and that I should go for a leather pair instead. If they're more "sturdy", I guess. But if I get them I'll redo the soles like you have done. I think I'll do it no matter what kind of fabric I go for actually. Want them to last for a loooooooong time. Hehe.

For sizing? Do you prefer the Lanvins to be a bit snug or a bit bigger than your foot? I use flats in 36, 36,5 and 37...and they all fit. Even if some are a bit bigger than others.

Thanks again!! :flower:
