Balmain Mens S/S 2020 Paris

As the show took place on Music Day (June 21st) which is also the first day of summer, they decided to do a festival.
It was in the "Jardin des Plantes", they had a food truck by the chef Cyril Lignac, there was a lot of people...It was democratic and clever and yet it was the chicest festival ever.
There was the show, there was multiple DJs, some performances (it was weird i didn't know the guy from the Versace series was an artist) and some merch and it was very fun.

It was maybe the first fashion show for a lot of people there. You had the guests of the brand, some influencers, editors and student, random people.

And with that stage, that crowd, that energy, 100 looks was just fine. The collection could have been longer because it was well executed.
Really a great event.
Carine should have waited to see this before doing her CR/Luisaviaroma stuff.

Thank you! I was really curious on this since I've seen zero people commenting on the actual event and that was the only thing that interested me. Is there anywhere where I can see the artists that performed? I'm really curious about it.

I'm 100% into the idea of "fashion festivals" if and only if it's an actual festival and not an excuse to sell tickets to showcase your collection. Yang Li has been flirting with that for a long time now and I find it beautiful to see a synergy between designers and musicians/artists.

The creative direction is not for me and to me it will always feel like a high fashion version of Victoria's Secret but I applaud if they are doing it right.

The somewhat interesting black and white looks towards the end were the only redeeming factor about this show. Everything else was just the usual over the top mess.

One thing about Olivier is that he is really genuine and he likes popular things and enjoy the idea of embracing popular thing. It was unpretentious and while not fashion forward for me, it was enough I think for the people in the crowd.
It’s maybe his most accessible collection in a longtime.
It’s not easy to do an event that is both popular and slightly elitist without having people feel a bit detached from it.
It was perfectly dozed.

And he was very accessible too I must say.

Don't get me wrong, Lola, although I'm generally not a fan of pop music/culture, I do respect those who are and I've felt for a long time that the whole VS spectacle needed to either be completely rebranded or replaced. And I feel this has the potential to be it. He just needs to keep it "democratic" (as in accessible). I thought something like this would come by hand of Mr. Wang (while hoping it wouldn't be Dsquared2 or D&G) but I'm glad it was Balmain, it fits much better and Olivier doesn't take himself as serious.
