Balmain Paris Men's F/W 2016.17

I really enjoy his menswear. The womenswear looks like something you would find in a casino shop in Las Vegas. As a matter of fact, Las Vegas seems to be his inspiration for all his womenswear collections.

I really like Olivier. He looks like a fun guy but this is atrocious.
The guys looked like fashion victims and the women looked like straight from a Torrente Couture show circa 1987.
BAD BAD BAD!!!!!!!!!!!

That white mini on Isabeli is divine! I saw a detail shot of it on Instagram and it's gorgeous!

i agree with spike...
i like all the elements but they really aren't used as well as they could be...
it reminded me of gucci as well- but more from the tom ford era...

nyeh...
:ermm:

I usually just stay away from Balmain, but just had to have a peek...

So he just reworked his women’s signatures for men…? And I suppose it was only a matter of time before he walked in his own show. I’m sure his “army” and the Kardashians/ Jenners will love all this predictable swishiness. It’s all very fashion-101; like what 10-year-old girls that collect those “Ever After High” dolls and gays that still believe in “fierce” would idealize high fashion to be.

I actually enjoyed some of the looks, they sort of have that prince of persia feel to it (whatever that means...lol). I liked the blue velvet coats.

I don't think he walked in this show. I believe you're referring to Dudley O'Shaughnessy, the model who looks quite a lot like Olivier.

Too much...
Napoleon Bonaparte, russian gussars, American War of Independence ect.... All this is too heavy,
too much embroidery, too much Gold Buttons, too much of too much...
It is not wearable. It is ugly.
Womenswear - Couture al-lá Moulin Rouge in mix with Las-Vegas.
Details are beautiful but all togethes-no, please!!! It is not a menswear. Some pieces coudl be good as a womenswear. IMO. I mean some jackets which in menswear collection could be good in womenswear to wear with Jeans for example. Sorry but it's my opinion.

Cast ist good. Music- was yet. He is not the first. Where is his brilliance? Genie? Please, no...

Sure Olivier might a one-trick pony, but on a sublime male cast (like such) his clothes look divine. I probably wouldn't wear any of them myself because they are incredibly luxe however this is one of his better menswear collections I think. Sure it might be over-stylized but they do look cool and I particularly like the lilac(y) section which is really quite beautiful.

Yes, it has the "Wow" effect. The menswear for sure. I like this military luxurous style. Embroidery, gold buttons, it is beautiful. The womenswear , one dress is good.
I can't imagine any men wearing it, yes, the pop-rock stars but as a daily wear?
The cast is perfect, nothing to say.Like it too.

But, genie? As Bertrando3 wrote in the posting?

"Everything was rich, super cool, the casting of models was fierce and the clothing was just so desirable. The jackets, the shoes, the backpacks, it was oozing power, modernity, class and french glamour. Genius ! "

Opulence, "Wow" effect at the first moment because of all this opulence and because of very good cast, Olivier choosed the models who can wear it and look cool in this opulent overstyled clothes. It might work on the runway, as fashion show´, the details are awesome, nothing to say.

But modernity? all this was yet. Genius? I don't think so.
Dior Homme sent on the runway better collection as Balmain. IMO.
