Balmain Resort 2026 Paris

Way too many looks, giving too much space to things that look straight off Zara / Massimo Duti racks.

Been hearing that he's staying but that they're expecting a "new chapter" (i.e new direction for the brand) soon. In all fairness, they are indeed a bit out of breathe... Wonder how that'll translate in his designs... He hasn't surprised us in years.
They started with working with Ezra (not so much of a good idea IMO), he started working with MAS on shows, so it does seem like they are moving forward and are not that « scared of change ».
Maybe he needs to change his design studio too. A new footwear designer would be appreciated but why not a new design director. With the changes in the industry lately, there are many talents available. The ex guy from Blumarine would be great there.

If ever they decides to part ways with Olivier, it would a tragedy if they don’t give the position to Alexandre Vauthier. Matter of fact, Vauthier would be great at YSL too.

Of course he's on autopilot. Why wouldn't he be? It's Lowest Common Denominator luxury, yes, but he's carved a distinct and desirable niche in the industry that will go on to define the brand. That's what all designers strive for.

I find it impossible to hate his hustle. His work is derivative af, but he's created codes every successor after him will use.

It reminds me of playing Monopoly and buying the cheap brown and blue sets. Easy to write off as being 'basic' or 'too accessible' but that's a slice of the market that someone was bound to dominate. And I'm glad it's him.
Carved a distinct look for Balmain is Christophe Decarnin!!!!! the sexy pointy shoulder , shorter than short dresses the tacky made expensive etc etc .

Much like Blazy at Bottega after Daniel Lee set the direction Olivier build on this silhouette and foundation with over embellishment and craft exploration and seasonal themes.

Sure Both Blazy and Olivier have there success and strengths but i will always have more respect (hold in higher regard) for the Lee´s and Decarnin´s that did the original 180 turnaround of a design evolution to a house with succes.

It's like saying Frida carved a distinct and desirable niche in the industry that will go on to define the brand while you had TOM at Gucci before her.

they need to change him he is tacky it clear from how he presents himself he is stuck in his balmain army fro years now.

the more years pass the more cringe he has become it would be like if Hedi would start dressing in his women's rtw and had long hair extensions etc and walked out like he just finished a theatre play or something

we want to say don't judge a designer by what the look or dress like but tell this to Mulger later years etc lol when you start dressing and looking like your fantasy somehow for these male designers they end up looking like Circus freaks

coco , miuccia, phoebe etc they dress what they sell and they make it work and look cool Balmain army guy no bueno !!!!

We adore Alexandre of course, but it's without exaggeration and not the least hyperbolic that so so so many Houses would be brought back from gross gaudiness and mere mediocrity by Alexandre.

(BTW, just outright hysterical— and maybe even a genius marketing strategy, that his “menswear" is just hilariously his womenswear on biological males that have the same measurements as his female model. Because surely there aren’t enough size 2 rich circuit queens and fem twinks to sustain the “menswear”…)

What's wrong with Ezra if I can ask ? 🤔 I agree he needs a totally new team and perspective, top to bottom.

The last campaign with Laetitia Casta, by Teller, after years of exhaustion of that aesthetic isn’t really « moving things forward ».
I think this lookbook for resort feels more modern and fresh. This is the direction he should use. Now that he is working with MAS, maybe she needs to be a little bit more involved.
I’m waiting for the campaign for FW to have a definitive opinion on the Ezra thing.

 I actually love freaky designers dressed with ugly clothes.🫣I don’t know, I think it’s cute.

Sometimes when it’s too studied and try hard it’s a little bit pretentious (like Marc with his nails) but in a way it’s fun.

I think it’s suspicious when a designer dresses well or when a hairstylist has a decent hairstyle

The only exception would be my beloved Phoebe who is the definition of chic.
