Balmain S/S 2010 Paris

I think he's just designing for celebrities. his clothes are too musical like it can be worn in a music video plus the price tag is ridiculous. This clothes just look ridiculous in real life for women who live in reality

Um I don't find this trashy at all and I'm no Balmain fan. I actually think the collection successfully creates that rocker meet warrior vibe without being overdone or contrived. And even though these clothes are not for the average woman they have a laid back confidence about them that I'm intrigued by.
And if it hasn't been reiterated it's great to see Daria

I actually like parts of this collection. I mean it's not groundbreaking or anything but whatever. I was wearing structured blazers with short shorts last summer and I probably will again next summer :). But seriously, a lot of comments so far are complaints about the color pallet and how dark it is. Most people here (not including myself) loved the Rodarte show and it was just as dark.

Anyways, I think that structured blazers and tight jeans are great and I grew up watching Xena so I think she's fierce and wouldn't mind walking the streets looking like her for a while. My biggest complaint about the show is the shoes. They are horrid. They are like those Manolo Blahnik boots that people flipped out over and spawned many a knock off in the beginning of the decade. I really don't see the point of bringing them back. They were trashtastic then and they are just as gross now.

I like it. I'm not usually a fan of muted/earth tones, but I really like these pieces, especially the fits

As repetitive as Balmain is, I can never bring myself to hate it. It's just such a powerful look.
A bit grungier than usualy, yes, but nevertheless it's cool and it's pure rock'n'roll.

At first I was not into the collection-simply because it was pretty much what I expected to see.
But then I thought "imagine if I woke up and all these pieces were in my closet"
Naturally I would be in heaven! Almost everything is wearable and the leather in particular is timeless.

Sure, he designs to a specific market-but that is actually a strength.

I don't care, I LOVE IT!!! I would definitely wear this for a nightclub. It's sexy, i really like the military jackets. I'm really sick of flowers and bright colors. So Yeah i think this is a good collection. Bye Girls!

This is difficult, to me Balmain is just bloody expensive tat, that only looks good on models and Paris Voguettes, everyone else looks tragic. Hope Madonna doesn't come near it this time. Beyonce should also look to the another side.

I like the colours(maybe because we are going to the enter winter) and the aesthetic of the collection, the clothes in itself not so much.

agree!

I really like the colour palette, BUT ugh, even if his change the inspiration this is still boring. When I look at it, I don't see anything new which is disappointed because the collection is not ugly or a mess ; it's just that there's nothing new. Beside that I liked the jacket that Carmen wore.

oh, and why the runway must always be ugly or boring like that? Wasn't this the brand that sells pants at $ 2,000

That's enough, Decarnin! I swear, at first it was okay but now it's just the same thing over and over again. It seems so tacky and trashy, ugh:yuk:

Love it or hate, Balmain sure does inspire a passionate response.

but so did Janet Dickson's exposed boob, or Paris Hilton's constantly exposed panties, or Lil Kim's hideous outfits...sure - they inspire a passionate response, but um...it doesn't mean much. :innocent:

It's so easy to say Balmain is tacky or trashy-but none of the girls on the runway look that way at all.
And most of the people we see wearing it regularly (Emmanuelle Alt, Vanessa Traina, Melanie Huynh etc) don't look trashy.

It's all about who is wearing the pieces and how they wear them in my opinion.

I found only 5 pieces that I'd buy and they are kinda simple and their knock-off's are very very easy to make so I keep my fingers crossed that Zara, Bershka, Mango or other clothing stores in Lithunia will sell them.
I guess me & Balmain are not as compatible as we used to be!

what's the point ?
Jane Post-Tarzan followed a rock and roll band in War Time ?
what a concept !

well, as usual, i like certain pieces, few dresses, pants and jackets and i like shade of gold on the dresses. but we have seen it all (without the holes on clothes)

Seriously, this looks like a combination of hooker's and homeless people's clothes put through the shredder and mashed together with some extra sequins for good measure. Next, please

maybe the inspiration is world economic crisis!
