BE&D Bags

I am so pissed! I am completely, madly in love with this bag in these two colors, but these prices are ludicrous! The sand one is perfect for my trip to hawaii, but no way can I afford 995 and it doesnt close, oh lordy! Who is running this comp?
If anyone knows of a lookalike/same style, but under $500 of the sand colored one, please post it, cause I need it for my trip!

Actually, I have a Crawford bag in a deep lavender, and I have seen the sand color. They close with a snap at the center top. I have to agree...they do feel amazing.

^^oh gawd dont tell me that, i cant crack, i cant, i cant. How much did you buy yours for, if that isnt rude. I found it for 895, but still seems quite high. Do you feel yours is worth the price?

sigh

I needed to get all my crawford pics in one post, hope you dont mind!

I am in love with the sand Crawford. I have been looking for a massive, soft-as-butter bag to carry on airplanes and the like, but I have to agree that the price on this thing is disgusting. I could accept that kind of money for my long-coveted Marc Jacobs, but this bag really needs to be about half the price.

And yet still, I covet. *sigh* I'd also love to know if anyone spots something similar but more affordable!

I caved and bought one. I got if from Saks before they raised the price, and with the coupon from reesycakes, the bag was a total of $955. I almost died waiting for it to arrive, I was so excited. I have coveted this bag for months and months. Finally, after 7 days, it came. When I opened up the box the first thing I saw were the buckles. They are the ugliest things I have ever seen. They are very bold and brassy and they look like someone bought them from Home Depot for a dollar. I wish the buckles and studs were antique brass, the bag would be so much prettier.

The bag isnt near as big as I imagined or saw it pictured on some people. The inside is gorgeous and looks expensive and well made but the outside leather is so soft that any little thing would mark it and get it dirty.

I am returning the bag. The buckles are not my style, and hubby said if I kept the bag, I couldnt use it when I went anywhere with him. He hates it more than I do.

Oh no! I'm sorry you were dissapointed with it, but good for you for returning it since it's not as fabulous as you were expecting. And thanks for sharing your first-hand experience with it. I really need to get to a store that sells them so I can see it and touch it in person.

*sigh*

wish i had read your earlier posts, because i could have warned you of the buckle...it's so HUUUGE! and the gold...it's so BRIIIIIGHT!!

purchased mine in march and when i showed my husband, he also hated the purse...he said it was gross!! so needless to say, i had to sell it since i couldn't return it to the online boutique. i was so worried i wouldn't sell it, but luckily, the buyer loved it! also, as many pictures as i took of it, the gold doesn't photograph accurately...it is really played down in pictures.

all i can say is that it's a good thing you bought it from a department store!

cloud, I've been looking at these two sites, and I have to say, I'm starting to covet. They have some really nice looking bags, gorgeous colors, and the prices are super reasonable (yikes, I sound like a spokesperson). Do you know anything about the quality?

BTW, the Crawford bag does look really nice on Miss Gastineau - it looks even better than in the stock photos actually. But if you look at the buckle - it's as big as her hand! And didn't she complain on one ep of her show about having super-sized hands?

I agree. I remember being turned off by the sheer size of the hardware when I saw it in real life. The shiny brightness of the gold didn't help at all.

Supposedly some of the newer bags have more of a burnished brass look - not so bright. I know its true on the garbo bags, but not sure of the crawford hobos.

I LOVE the crawford. Even though it is as pricey as some of the higher end, more known designers, it is less common, which makes me love it even more. Do you think the sand is something that cannot be used all year round?

I have the Be&D Crawford in sand; I do agree that the buckles would be nicer if they were more burnished and less shiny-shiny, but it such lovely leather! I just took it as my carry-on for a trip to D.C., and it was perfect, so slouchy and roomy and cool.

I'm more of a summer vs. winter texture than summer vs. winter color person. So a leather bag would be fine summer or winter, but a canvas bag in a light color would be more summer, and a velvet bag would be more winter, if that makes any sense.

So my point is that yes, I think the sand color would work year 'round.

i was at harvey nicks hong kong yest and it was the first time i saw their bags... they were pretty but i think you could get much better ones for the same price.

is the crawford a heavy or light bag (without putting anything inside)? would this be a good Uni bag?

i'm looking at this Crawford Deerskin Hobo in Sand and it measures 18 x 14 inches. i haven't seen it in real life and i won't have a chance to see it until i actually buy the bag.

i am 5 foot tall...would this be toooo oversized bag for me? hmmm...

cheers all!

Neimanmarcus.com has several of the Crawford BE&D on sale. The sand is $498
