I've searched for this band multiple times to see if they have a topic already, including searching Victoria's name since I get a lot of results when I search the name Beach House. I'm recently obsessed with their music and Victoria's dresses and their first album has one of my favorite album covers.

Only I've posted in here so far which is why I haven't bothered bumping it but they have a new album coming out in the near future (I wish they had thought to release it during the holiday season) and someone's posting about Victoria's jacket reminded me that I had started this thread. i tried listening to them the other day, can't remember which song but i couldn't get into them. strange as everywhere i am recommended them based on what music i already like! what is the best song to start with?

I don't know. I have to admit I heard of them with the first album but didn't really get into them until around the time the second one would have been coming out. I heard songs from the second album and decided to give the first song I've ever heard of theirs another shot then checked out the other songs from the first album and after that I was definitely a fan. I'm not good with recommending things but one of the first songs I really liked from the first album was Auburn and Ivory and with the second album I've listened to Wedding Bell and Holy Dances the most.

Beach house is just such a beautiful band. I call this type of music my comatose music like its all daydreamy and surreal I could lay on the floor all day and listen to it. Hence, being like in a coma They are in the same category for me as Cat Power and Angus stone and that is not an easy place for a band to get!
I am so glad I like this type of music rather than spending my life being relegated to Lady gaga and Rhianna
Also, it is great that they aren't huge amongst the scenester/trendy crowd. You guys might also want to check out a new band from Australia called the Middle East, they are similar.

Lover Of Mine will probably become one of the ones I listen the most along with Zebra. I completely forgot I even made this thread and didn't even remember to bump it when I got the album. I meant to listen to other artists more so Beach House and Bat For Lashes aren't taking up almost all of the space in my top 25 playlist on iTunes but I think I should forget about that happening.

"saltwater" is beauuuutiful! best line ever "you couldn't lose me if you tried".

there's a "gila" on youtube where victoria just mesmerizes...

from their lastest album teen dream, track 4 stands out but i don't know the title. sorry. but the whole album is great. hope this helps...
