Beautiful Houses

I saw this on a blog today and just had to post it..:woot: amazing what people can do with a bit of creativity and a keen eye. This french couple found an old 1930s canal boat online and spent 6 months redoing it. They decorated with mainly second hand items and now they live in it not far from Paris. amazing !...

I love the paint colours they've chosen and the mix of old beaten up objects and some of the newer, more finished pieces. all the materials are beautiful too. And that distressed table with the louis ghost chairs and the bold yellow chairs.. brilliant ! :crush: I wish i could walk around in this space and soak up all the details.

That gardenhouse is so beautiful  Love the simplicity of it.

The gardenhouse is just absolutely adorable. I think it's someone every woman would want in her garden to relax, read and whatnot. :crush:

The house with the riverviews is stunning too.

House in Avila, Spain by A-cero Architects.

A dwelling of generous proportions developed over a single storey to facilitate the indoor-outdoor connection and to make the most of the environment in which it stands. Surrounded by meadows, tree groves, chestnut, pine and oak trees and wildlife represented by stags, wild boar and roe deer, the edifice establishes a recognised link with the traditional architecture and vernacular customs. Stone, tile, wood have been used in its construction.
The sense of the architecture is to formalise the space and layout of the rooms besides representing a clear tribute to rural villages. The consequence is an open, U-shaped dwelling with a large central courtyard that shares out the uses. The principal wing houses the living rooms, dining room, TV room and children’s and playrooms. In the east wing is the kitchen, laundry room and cellar and in the west wing the master bedroom. Semi-independent pavilions house the installations, riding facilities, stables and the guardians’ dwelling. Two immense awnings frame the landscape.
Through an apt play of symmetries visual perspectives are created. A painstaking study of the light allows it to come in through courtyards, grooves, windows, skylights and façade openings. The courtyards help us to minimise the conditions of the extreme climate, provide colour, freshness and hold the ponds that reflect the serenity and musicality of the water.
Indoors there is a consistency in its development that offers us serene, private ambiences full of nuances and subtleties. The house generates its own environment and assimilates the best of what there is. The project arises as a response to the demands of the place.

I love most of the houses that have been posted in this thread  Some people are so lucky, living in such beautiful places and in amazing houses. Especially love the one posted in #620. Architecture is such an interesting thing.

I pass by this villa every day. It's called Villa Butterfly and is currently owned by Kimi Räikkönen. He bought it for 34,000,000$. No pictures of the inside, but I've heard from friends who have been inside, that the interior is even more impressive.
The other picture is of one of my my dream houses. A tree house in Laos :woot:

A House Made of Two / naf architect & design
Location: Kanagawa, Japan

This is a project of one family living in two houses built slightly apart from one another.

One great volume of a house which covers the entire plot was supposed first. Then this volume was carved in a curve in three segments and two volumes at the both ends were built as two houses on the site.

The wood structures and finishing materials of two houses are standardized to emphasis the relations of two volumes being originally from "one great volume" and that they are one though apart. Carved volume in the middle became a courtyard leading to the approach to two houses.

Having another house for movies at night, overnight guests or work at home allows the inhabitants the liberty to do what they please at a time they want. This distance between two houses may be just right for inviting grandparents to move in someday or providing privacy to children at puberty.

The purpose of building two houses slightly apart is not the same as that of having a villa at a resort or a farm household having a main building and a barn.

This project is an experiment for allowing more life style options in the life based in the urban area.

Amazing Travertine House by A-Cero Architecture Firm with water features
Location: Somosaguas (Madrid, Spain)

An amazing travertine house that’s about as grand as they come. Set on a hillside slope, this three storey house has a modern, minimalist exterior featuring alternating layers of marble and glass walls. Wide windows blur the boundary between indoors and out, illuminating interiors with natural light and providing a direct connection to nature. Inside, the high ceiling of the open-to-above living room introduces a modern edge with real livability. A sophisticated interior design black-and-white palette matches the home’s clean, straight lines and bold architectural details. Virtually every room offers immediate access to a landscaped terrace or ground-floor courtyard, where even a water feature lined with smooth grey river rocks matches the home’s soothing sense of calm. And just as peaceful but on a large scale, an 80m2 geometric pool winds its way through the outdoor Travertine deck.

Progressive Architecture - Timber and Stone Two-homes-in-one Design

Slovenian architecture firm Superform, known for their progressive architecture, furniture and interior design, has delivered on all these expectations (and then some!) with a progressive timber home design in the town of Ljubno ob Savinji, about 70 kilometers from Slovenia’s capital of Ljubljana. A combination of two houses, this unusual house separates the living and socializing areas in two very different buildings, each designed to respond to its specific purpose. Tending toward the more traditional side, a timber and stone structure is occupied by the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen in a massive, monolith of a house characterized by its private design; wood-clad with windows shuttered for privacy from the outdoors. The home’s social spaces can be found in its second, boat-like structure made of glass, steel, Rheinzink and wood. Here, the living room, dining room and a large hall invite the outdoors in through an expansive glass wall, sliding open to the patio overlooking the pool.

Luxury Spanish House - Courtyard Home Design

Spanish architects A-cero designed this luxury house design in Pozuelo de Alarcon, Madrid. As per the architects, the house "stands out for its geometric purity, material sophistication and compositional elegance." This contemporary courtyard design boasts a modern travertine marble shell, taking on a strong, geometric shape of layers upon layers of living spaces. Lots of large windows, coupled with the home’s north-south orientation, ensure sun-soaked interiors. These large windows and glass doors lead to the outdoors at every level, thanks to a sloped property. The home’s minimalist exterior is contrasted by rich interiors – opulent color, in detail and in life. At the heart of this large yet cozy house is a luxury living area enclosed in windows and open to above, overlooked by a glassed-in library. Features like floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and rich, wood-paneled walls give this modern home a sophisticated appeal.
