I've seen a lot of people from the industry, including models with big and small following, post about Aleppo this week. Not just Bella...
To be honest I don't really know how to feel about this. It seems to me that it's just the instagram trend of the week (like "bring back our girls" a several years ago). Taking 5 minutes of your day to post a picture of a dying child, saying how helpless you feel, and then go back to your comfortable life. Posting on instagram is not helping the situation. Maybe it does bring awareness, but I don't think a lot of people are getting their news from the IG of their favorite model (at least I hope so).
I don't know what's the better reaction, if you don't post anything on social media people will accuse you of being a narcissistic b*tch, if you do post, others will question your motivations. But I have a lot more respect for people who are committed to helping others on a regular basis or who support NGO and don't feel the need to brag about it on their platform.
The thing that annoys me the most is that massive killings have been a reality in Syria since 2012 or so. Of course what happened earlier this week is horrific to hear, but it seems like the world is only just waking up now, at least judging from Instagram.
