thanks m-o-m - there seems to be no happy medium at the collections. its either ultra italiano-conservative-eurochic or mad-alternative-cartoonesque fashion - neither of which really works in the real world as far as I an see. But mens fashion is really confusing me this season.....

thanks metal!!...
not my cup of tea...

I need to post more of this show because maybe this group isn't so representative. It's just WAY too much 80's for me, which feels really old and tacky and out of sync. This isn't 2001. I know Bernhard is a child of the 80's but there's a way to take those references and grow up a little. It's a little too soon for a redux of the 80's redux from a few years ago.

I like the prints and colours... the shapes and cutting seem a bit off though. I would like to see more of this.

I don't think even Scott , who's a great defender of Bernhard Willhelm , will be able to find much in defence of this .

Although , Didn't BH START all this cartoon comic-strip nightmare ' throw it all together but make sure nothing matches - so there !!!!! ' , style of ' we want your money but will only give you rubbish in return ' nonsence .

I think he's having a joke on us , and that there's truth in the fact that ' German Fashion ' is a brilliant use of OXYMORON .

I spoke too soon about the models.

While I do think this is much better than last season, I find it to be really done. "we get it! you like using awkward shapes and tacky prints! enough!" I really want him to start designing clothes that I havn't seen before. To his credit, his menswear often looks pretty good after being styled in editorials. He's the Jeremy Scott of Paris, gimmicky, pseudo-hipster, trailer trash, tacky clothes (which is not a bad thing). He should be so much better than that though.

OH. I do have a crush on him cause he is HOT.

LOL kit.

M-o-m - yes well put. I guess in his defence he is true to his love of 80's referencing. thats an interesting poit that comes to mind though.... is a good designer the one who does stay true to his/her aesthetic (& just reworks it) or is a good designer an ever changing beast who creates new trends with no consistency with his/her previous work? or somewhere in between - the happy medium again....? what do you think? I know its a little off topic ...but......

And you would be correct,Kit.;)

Ugh...he's really gone too far into fashion hype-ness and irony for the sake of irony without any substance. Yeah, exactly like Jeremy Scott.

Kit, I´d agree with you on this if Bernhard Willhelm was anyhow a representation of German fashion, or if other German designer´s would follow the same aesthetic, as with the Japanese (Kawakubo, Miyake, Yamamoto, etc.).

Let me tell you that there is in fact a german fashion scene/german designers from which the majority is not at all like Bernhard Willhelm - people like Kostas Murkudis, Dirk Schönberger, Frank Leder, Stephan Schneider or Markus Stich are coming to mind, and they are all far away from the 80ies kitsch of Bernhard Willhelm´s work. It´s probably due to the fact that their designs are much more on second sight that they don´t get as much attention as Bernhard Willhelm.

More Bernhard...

well...i might be the only person who sort of likes this :ninja: . there are big exceptions like the hedious tank in the last post but while i dont think the clothes look very well altogether, i think they'd look quite decent separately, especially the jackets, the light blue pants (#1) and the bags  .

i agree with everyone who said this is way too much eighties-influenced...
but still i have a soft spot for willhelm, maybe he's going through his second puberty:p

thanks for the pictures, m-o-m.
