Blumarine Resort 2022 Milan

Loving this unapologetic Millennial mood that Blumarine is on, quite refreshing to be honest!

Great color palette, love those fur trim cardigans and one shoulder sweaters.

I have loved this new Blumarine since the start and have seen it gain traction among the ~IG Fashion people~; it's definitely on its way to becoming a brand of the moment. I can't help but appreciate the authentic interpretations of the 2000s in this collection and lookbook. However, the 4 collection that have been put out so far are all starting to blend together? Which is not necessarily a bad thing, I just hope he's not a one hit wonder designer. I'll give Brognano the benefit of the doubt because A) he might be establishing a set of recognizable staples for the brand and solidifying the branding, B) it's a resort collection, and C) it hasn't even been a full year since his debut collection.

Again…it’s easy to like because it’s so 2000’s Italian fashion, very Cavalli with lots of John Galliano-Dior thrown in for good measure. We all love that stuff, it’s when fashion was fun and gorgeous and electric.

But on the other hand, that’s what I think is wrong here. What is this designer’s unique voice? What does he have to say about anything? We all can mood board those iconic collections from the late 90’s and early 00’s. We all can rewatch “The Simple Life” and queue up those classic Britney videos. So what makes him special? Open-ended question. Maybe I’m just pessimistic, but I doubt there’s really much there behind this slick rehash.

I don’t mind the 2000’s mood, but…he is going to have to dig deep in himself and see what is unique about his tastes and likes, his inspirations, his references…and start mixing that in. This whole rebrand is simply not nuanced or idiosyncratic enough. If he doesn’t figure that out, this will all fizzle out very fast once everyone has moved on from the ironic early-aughts mania. And then what will he be left with?

The blonde model here is fabulous. She looks great.

The beret looks are so Galliano for Dior...and I am a fan:cool:

Interesting you say that. I really like this new Blumarine but for the long run I think youre right. My opinion is that it only looks so cool and fresh and going this new direction because its very heavy edited and consulted by Lotta. She truly really lives and loves this era and style. But its becoming a problem if the creative director of the house is not living and loving the same. you will soon see it. Checking his earlier work, right before he did the first new direction Blumarine, this guys designs are actually so boring and mediocre and totally not what it is right now. So its not real. What he is doing now is NOT him, its Lotta, but not fully Lotta as she is not the creative director and you can feel it.
