In addition to the oversized coats, jackets seem to be taking a very boxy feel for FW11. Whilst the oversized coats are all about volume, often drape, padding, shapeless fitting, the boxy shapes are sharply cut and often feature prominent square pockets.
It's not just assigned to jackets though - we're seeing boxy cuts on longer coats, dresses and tops too, and the square pockets have appeared on trousers (Cynthia Rowley) and dresses as below.
The bomber and biker jacket have been popping up, the bomber jacket particularly in keeping with a few 90s trends we've seen too........
Here are some boxy examples, pics from elle.com:
Alexander Wang: boxy but fitted:
Calvin Klein: boxy and shapeless:
Derek Lam: boxy coat dress:
DKNY: boxy padded jacket:
Jenni Kayne: Boxy dress and jacket:
Karen Walker: Mega boxy jacket:
Marc Jacobs: Boxy top
Preen: Boxy jacket:
Rodarte: Boxy shapes:
... there are SO many more, and these are just from New York!
