It’s too easy to turn one’s nose at this brand— especially now that he’s Walmart’s CD.
Can’t say that he’s that he’s a classic American design innovator in the tradition of Calvin/Donna/Halston-- nor even an impressive dressmaker. But if I give this particular offering a chance, there’s a handful of surefire gems: The simple croc-embossed gown in disco-ball silver; the powder-pink gown with the charming cable-knit polo-collared cape; the polka dots; and the bathrobe coat are all better than anything from any American designer lately. There’s a true blue Americana sensibility that’s timeless and effortless in such designs. Too bad there aren’t more of these, cuz the prints (that nmatche the wallpaper LOL) just instantly cheapen everything to a Target-collab level.
